Comments Thread For: Canelo Questions Mayweather For Breaking Fight Promise

WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (41-0-1, 30KOs) questions the true intentions of Floyd Mayweather Jr. (43-0, 26KOs), after the two boxers had a fallout over a verbal agreement related to a potential fall fight.

According to Canelo, the two of them reached a verbal agreement on terms and Mayweather was going to sign a contract to fight Canelo in September. In exchange for his signature, Canelo would appear in the co-feature position to Mayweather's fight with Robert Guerrero on May 4th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Once the card was officially announced, Canelo says Mayweather refused to sign his end of the deal. The Mexican superstar alleges that Mayweather was trying his use his name to boost the pay-per-view numbers, and tickets sales, on Cinco De Mayo weekend. [Click Here To Read More]

Why doesn't Canelo worry about Trout before he starts thinking of a fight with Floyd? He can't afford to look past the most dangerous opponent of his career right now.

I'm glad Canelo went this route, the fight was arguably better than Mayweather-Guerrero. It's time for him to show his worth now.

I don't think we will ever see Mayweather go above 147 again

I always knew he will duck Canelo. Canelo is the reason why he went on a long vacation again and waited instead for the Berto/Guerrero winner. He will never fight Canelo. Even if he beats Trout. Mark my word.

Canelo is finally going to fight a legit jr middle opponent, and now he is popping off like he runs the game? He needs to stfu and prove his worth.

Cherry picking Mayweather wants to first see how good or bad Canelo looks against Trout.

Floyd Mayweather has yet to clean out a division since light weight. At 140 he font everybody except Hatton and Kosta.

At 147, no Manny or Bradley.

At 154, he didn't fight anyone except a shop worn Cotto.

The so called best fighter in the world as not cleaned out a division in over 10 years.

Mayweather, do yourself a favor and look at how Andre Ward cleans out a division. You not only beat the best guy, but you beat the 2,3 and even 4 best fighter in the division.

But he fought Cotto at his "comfortable weight" 154
