Vitali fought at won a world title in 99'. He was a high risk, low reward opponent at the time and lost to Byrd by injury before the bigger fights came. He came back and fought his way back into contention and fought Lewis. We know what happened there, he gave Lewis all he could handle and lost by an unfortunate bad cut. After that, he beat the stuffing out of Sanders who was now the man to beat since Wladimir lost to him and the rematch with Lewis was refused. Then, he fights Williams, who also was a hot commodity and destroyed his career.

    -fast forward almost 4 years-

Comes back and beats the #2 ranked heavyweight (behind only Wladimir), which was Peter and essentially ended his career as well.

Since that time he has been blatantly ducked by Valuev and Haye and by the time Haye decided to sack up, he had already been beaten soundly by Wladimir.

The Adamek fight was a mismatch but he was ranked 4th in the world and we all know #3 (Povkn) was in line for Wladimir so that fight could'nt happen.

Vitali has faced and beaten all willing dance partners that Wladimir didn't have lined up based on his 3 belts.

    That's all he can do.
Did you call Williams a "hot commodity"?

And you have the nerve to go out on a LOL against me.

First off, Sanders whole career was a mess, he'd already been KOd and was visibly shocked after he beat Wlad. He then came in totally out of shape vs Vitali and still managed to rock him before the stoppage.

Vitali fought a LHW for a version of the title, and quit on his stool with a couple of rounds to go. He then fought the most overrated fat bum, with ZERO good wins on his resume in Sam peter, and who was DEFINITELY NOT the #2 heavyweight. He had struggled with a fat midget middleweight and was just dropped 3 times by McCline. WOW what a fighter!

Vitali has beaten the fighters from the second tier all of his career. His best win is sadly Sanders. Don't try to elevate his wins.

And finally. Williams a "hot commodity"? You just lost whatever little credibility you had left.

      WHERE'S YOUR LIST!?

Who can't you believe has Patterson over Vitaly Bat? Who are you talking about?

I have Vitali at 3. I don't see too many from the past being able to cut it with the Ukranian giant.

On achievements he did not face the same calibre opposition as Lewis or his brother, true but he still fought decent opponents relative to his era especially when you compare to other ATG's like Tyson, Foreman, Liston, Frazier who also fought mediocre comp of their generation.

Lewis, Holyfield, Wladimir and Ali can only boast in recent times of facing all worthwhile guys in their generation. And Larry Holmes.

Are you a bad reader? I have said on at least 3 occasions, that I do not have a list, but what I said was that I'd rate Vitali above a couple of guys from your old list, which ensures that he, by your defintion, makes the cut.

Now tell us where you rank Vitali. Is he top 50? Or maybe 100?

I had Patterson ranked over Vitali on my recent list. But to be honest, and I have argued against Patterson many times, I may have to revise that.

I do certainly feel he had good skills and some good wins. But I can't justify having him in the top 20. Though his win over Moore is better than anything Vitali has on his resume.
