That in and of it self is impressive. What makes it even more impressive, is that he did that AFTER having a legendary career at 135, one of the best ever.

Then at a time when most people wouldn't have faulted him for thinking of retirement, he jumps up 2 weight classes and convincingly beats an absolute PRIME undefeated SRL.

I personally think its probably the greatest win in boxing history.

Depth of resume means more than one big win....JCC never beat an Alexis arguello like Pryor but he definitely beat better comp overall @ 140 so he should rank higher
Arguello was not at his peak at 140, thats not the same comparison.

It was about the zero for Floyd and historically most historians don't like that in boxers, when they have one eye on the zero and it influences every decision they make as regards their career.

Fight GGG at 160 and then might be able to re revise Floyds career. As of this minute Floyds most dangerous fight was against smaller size Pac. Good win for sure, but it makes Floyd look like a bully. Bloating JMM up, smaller sized Pac, CW with Canelo who had no great wins. DLH was a miniature risk as he lost to BH and was past prime anyway.
So calculated was Floyd. Skills pay the bills, so lets see it against GGG.
Duran already did that. Went up to 160, gave Hagler a real run for his money.

and I laughed when you tried to twist it like as if it was better to have fought 49 times (for Floyd) than Duran fighting ~120 fights!

Floyd got a lineal title by beating ....... no name Baldomir! Sounds pathetic if you put that name next to that!

            Nice try but you fail.
why do you scrubs always pull the worst oppoent out your ass????

Mayweather became lineal at 130 with Gernaro Hernandez/Corrales

            135 Castillo, 147 Mosley/Baldomir and 154 Canelo

Duran fought at novice for his 154 title....not all his opponents were great or top notch

its not about how many fights you have but who you fight and beat in your era......Look at who Mayweather and Duran fought at 135 and below....Mayweather fought better overall competition

at 147 and up Duran has the best single win out of he and floyd but Mayweather also defeated all his opponents. Duran was getting past prime and taking L's to the kirkland laings of the world and robbie sims. Mayweather was 35+ getting wins over Manny Pacquaio, Maidana and Canelo.

Longevity at the top level counts too....once Duran moved past 135 he became highly inconsistent

You almost couldn't have shot yourself in your own foot more.

              1) Floyd also beat a young novice at 154 and drained him to tip he scales even more.

              2) Just like everyone else he has weak opponents champions or not. Guerrero, Ortiz, c'mon.

              3) It's also about when and how you defeat your opponents. He decided to play it safe but will all the money you can't blame him but at a price of not receiving all the glory he could have gotten.

Mayweather always kept it shape and didn't lose focus like some fighters did(duran). His best win is an old pac with probably one arm and that's just not enough.

Canelo had over 40 fights....he was far from green, and the opponent Duran beat had like 15 total pro fights

Duran lost most of his big fights and thats why he rates lower in my book. We all are entitled to an opinion

weak champion? What do you think Iran Barkley was??? He got battered by damn near every good fighter he fought accept Hearns.

One win doesnt decide who has the better resume, its the body of work and once again Mayweather has the edge in title fights, lineal titles, defenses, you name it.....just stats bro...live with it

yea he played it safe lol.....dude fought the top fighter in 4 out of 5 weight classes and won a world title at age 21 with only 17 fights.....yea he was babied lol

Being focused is part of being great and thats just an excuse in my book.....Look at how Duran performed and who beat him past 30 and who mayweather was fighting and beating.....Mayweather was better past prime as well.....Duran was getting beat by Laing, Robbie Sims, no names etc while Mayweather at 35+ was consistent

inconstency was his downfall vs the best opponents. Duran lost to them

So then why are you naming those fighters?

You need to analyze more than what you stated. Most importantly is who they were at the time they fought Floyd and what condition were they.

If you want to talk about inconsistent fighters, you just named quite a few of them (circa when they fought Floyd). Analyze that and come back to me.

                    I can get you going:
Baldomir: What did he do? Did he beat any good true WW? So lets move on.....
Corrales: He was severally drained in that fight. Had trouble making weight. Also struggled in his 135lbs fights. So imagine at 130 where he fought Floyd? He came 2lbs over weight at the weigh in. While Floyd was hydrating himself, Diego was dehydrating(draining) himself. Do I need to say more?
Mosley: Had not fought in about 16 months and was about 39 years old. Bad combo ..... kept on losing after that.
Hernandez: It was his last fight then retired.
Canelo: At the time, still very raw fighter that had to drain down to 152. Canelo said it was the toughest thing he had to do. Even Floyd's team added that he had stamina issues, slow work rate, relatively flat footed and his game plan was to out box Floyd.

Maidana: Which great WW did he beat again? Gloves scandal? and so on

Duran: SRL win is just way better than anything you said about those other names. Its really not comparable. Even some of Duran's close losses should be ranked up there when all things are considered. Duran fought Hagler at close to 160!!!

PLUS: Floyd kept on using his A-side status to get the extra edge in a fight. Especially when one brings up legacy talk, it kills Floyd in a really bad way.

                    .

Mayweather - the catchweight king and anti blood drug tester - also drained the hell out of Oscar De La Hoya for the 154 bout even though Floyd came in at 150.... But then they'll say ''Canelo was better than Oscar...'' lol

As Floyd said, ''I belonged in the year 3000....''
