Duran never caught his opponent trying to fight with gloves with no padding at all, good for Maidana the comission didn't punish him for this, he got what he deserved though.
Side note: Mayweather was made to wear 10 oz gloved with extra padding against Dela Hoya, he wasn't allowed to wear the same gloves Dela Hoya wore, that's why Dela Hoya's face didn't look damaged after the fight even though he got hit a lot.

At this point I have Mayweather higher
Both are in my top 10-15 all time.......Hard to see anyone being favored over either guy at 140 and below besides maybe Ike Williams, Benny Leonard, or Pernell Whitaker
Both fought in the alphabet soup era.
Mayweather has more title defenses, beat more champions, hall of famers, took no loses, had no rivals in his era
Hard to hit is hard to hit in any era. Head to Head I'd favor Mayweather over Duran

Duran. He fought people he could potentially lose to. Hagler, SRL and Hearns. And when Duran did lose it was probably due to him not being in shape or underestimating his opponents.
It was about the zero for Floyd and historically most historians don't like that in boxers, when they have one eye on the zero and it influences every decision they make as regards their career.
Fight GGG at 160 and then might be able to re revise Floyds career. As of this minute Floyds most dangerous fight was against smaller size Pac. Good win for sure, but it makes Floyd look like a bully. Bloating JMM up, smaller sized Pac, CW with Canelo who had no great wins. DLH was a miniature risk as he lost to BH and was past prime anyway.
So calculated was Floyd. Skills pay the bills, so lets see it against GGG.Last edited by hugh grant; 12-22-2015, 04:47 PM.

In my estimation, at least stat wise Mayweather has the edge...I love both guys but once Duran got past 135, he wasn't the monster he was in the past
Mayweather gets points for adapting and changing his style with age, weight etc
personally he was just a better fighter than Duran...technique wise and his resume is superior to Durans\
both are top 20 ATG
