There's nothing he can do to be a Top 10 ATG. Nothing at all. Especially now Pacquaio is gone.
Yea your right,I made a mistake with the whole top 10 business(it happens lol)but I do think he should get a bump if he could win this fight..Also major respect if he ever took this fight...

But yeah, even a win over Pacquaio and Martinez wouldn't have put him in the Top 10 I agree but it's even less likely now for obvious reasons.
Yeah I know Winky was the one who backed out of that fight, because he wanted more money. That was basically the story for Floyd. Mosley, Winky, these guys turned Floyd down because they wanted an outrageous amount of money and this was JWW Floyd and they were JMW's. How thing's change and people forget[or new fans that don't know history even that recent].

Oh yeah, it would enhance his legacy no doubt.

I don't like threads like these, I mean most people here (myself included) can't even compile a legitimate top 50 all time great list. The one's who can are probably lying and copied their list from somebody elses, which was probably copied from somebody else. I mean, very very few would be qualified to make this sort of assessment, and even then I'd question them. It's just way to much boxing you'd have to watch/study and too much history you'd have to learn. So spare me your pseudo boxing knowledge when it comes to "very best of all time". With that said, it would be a grand victory for Mayweather, but it definitely wouldn't unseat accomplishments by Ali, Duran, Armstrong, or others mentioned as the absolute best of all time.

            This ^^

It's always funny when I see a thread with people saying there's no way he can get into my top 50 atg, when their actual top 50 list is full of fighters they have probably never watched

And Dawson hadn't make 168 in 7 years. Martinez was there about 3 years ago, and still comes in at 157-158 for the weigh ins for his MW fights.

He's already a top 10 ATG. He has a record better than some and remained undefeated doing it. To make things better he doesn't pad his record out with a hundred bums like most old atgs so people will be awed by the big shiny number.

Also, anyone who thinks Marcianno should be in a top 10 ATG or even a top 10 heavy pretty much has to rank Mayweather higher than him.

I voted No a win over Martinez wouldn't put him in the top 10 maybe the top 30 though

No, but it would be a very significant win at 154. At 160 for the lineal title it would be incredible.

                      No Way!

Martinez is starting to show signs that he is on the down side of his career now. Martinez would be well into 38 and probably closer to 39 by the time a fight would be made.

We even need to see how well Martinez is doing considering he was injured in his last fight.

It's nearing the too late category!
