Floyd's already top 20 Martinez would just add to the legacy. At 160 it would supercharge his resume.
Is Mayweather a top 10 atg if he beats Martinez??

Very good points.I don't like threads like these, I mean most people here (myself included) can't even compile a legitimate top 50 all time great list. The one's who can are probably lying and copied their list from somebody elses, which was probably copied from somebody else. I mean, very very few would be qualified to make this sort of assessment, and even then I'd question them. It's just way to much boxing you'd have to watch/study and too much history you'd have to learn. So spare me your pseudo boxing knowledge when it comes to "very best of all time". With that said, it would be a grand victory for Mayweather, but it definitely wouldn't unseat accomplishments by Ali, Duran, Armstrong, or others mentioned as the absolute best of all time.
I think that if Floyd fought more frequently (2-3 times a year), and wouldn't do that much cherrpicking he would be in TOP 10 ATG. He is most talented fighter of his era. He has it all to be all time great. Except brain. Yes of course he makes ****load of money but at this point of his carrer when he's very wealthy man he should do nothing but setting up hi legacy. He's (was)capable to reach TOP 10 but he's too god damn greedyComment

*** NO!
In terms of pure talent and boxing skills, Mayweather is Top 10 ATG for sure but when you start to factor in Resume and all that stuff, that is when he starts to Drop as far as All Time Rankings goes
His Era was WEAK IMO...now that is not his fault but it is TRUE, his Era was/is the ERA of HYPE, when fighters stopped earning things in the Ring and start Earning things based on other things that had nothing to do with boxing
a good trash talker, or a guy with the look, or a guy with no boxing skills but have the power to knock out a flat footed BUMs...can become stars in boxing today compared to when fighters had to earn their way to the Top
Why do think think a lot of fighters are by passing a long Amateur career and the Olympics to turn Pro? Because Boxing now is all about HYPE!
So NO Mayweather is not Top 10 all time because he was part of one of the most overrated ERA's in boxing History and a Era that did not really produce many All Time Greats if any besides maybe himself...I put him Top 20-30Comment

If Floyd just beats the likes of Guerrero and Trouts of this world it is basically just padding out his resume a bit more, as its highly debateable whether they would be floyds best wins.
But with Martinez it would very likely be Floyds best win if he beat hima t 160 and Floyd either wants to be ambitious ie fight and beat Sergio, or just coast along with wins over the likes of Guerrero and Trout etc.Comment
