    Yeah, so what?

WTF does Roberto Duran quitting in a fight over 32 years ago have to do with what happened tonight?

History was made tonight : A ringside doctor decided that a broken nose is grounds for stopping a fight for the first time ever in professional prizefighting. And fans applaud the decision!

Why shouldn't we? It's part of the rules of Boxing. Going to the cards after a foul happens.

Don't like it? Don't watch Boxing.

I post this in this thread specifically because it seems that the rest of the threads are overflowing with emotional fanboys who wear a 'Kotex' and seemingly forgot that this was a sport based upon making your opponet suffer as much as you physically can.

        Jesus Christ this is depressing.
one wonders if Garcia would've been so keen to retire on his busted schnozz were he not so obviously far ahead on the cards.

maybe Fernando Vargas should have quit after the round where he knocked Tito down and Tito appeared to intentionally hit his nuts. oh, wait, Vargas was the one trailing in that fight. you only quit on an intentional foul when you're in front, it's ok to continue and give the guy an advantage and an opportunity to foul you again when you're behind. gotcha.

this 'four rounds must be completed' rule sucks. i think Zab should've had the right to quit after seemingly being intentionally lowblowed in the first three rounds of his fight with Miguel Cotto. he was ahead on the cards, after all. he didn't need to carry on and give Miguel an advantage and the opportunity to foul him more.

Yeah, he went to bat and didn't rep the way he should have. It makes me question if he has the toughness needed to have longevity in boxing. I try not to overly-criticize fighters for injuries that occur in the ring. Would I have liked to see him fight on? Hell yeah, especially seeing Rosado's desire to stay on his feet even-though he was fighting a losing battle. Garcia had Siri buzzed multiple times and was in the position to force a stoppage. But, it doesn't seem like he has that 2nd/3rd gear in him, he won't go the extra mile to get that KO. He was easily winning on the cards and took his out. It does bother me as a fan, but I can only criticize so much cuz it's not like I'm in his shoes.

I lost major money on that fight.

I was literally enraged at those low blows. Equally as much because I knew they were intentional as for the fact that I knew they'd take a lot out of Judah and I'd end up losing my money.

Give me one other example in the history of the sport of a fight being stopped for a broken nose as a result of an accidental foul.

              I'll wait.

If you were in his shoes, would you take the chance that the desperate Salido continues his dirty tactics and you fail at becoming a World Champion because of it?

Garcia doesn't have one tenth the amount of balls that Rosado has.

First name a fight where a fighter gets his nose broken by an illegal headbutt and not a punch and continues to fight on.

                      I can wait too.
