Can you read? What part of my question has anything to do with Robert Guererro?
Prize fighting aside, the fact he makes a lot of money aside, on what basis is he a "great" fighter?
Athletic Ability! Raw Talent! Say what you want about canelo's compatition the kid still fights and fights with ability that is well beyond his years. This isn't Chavez Junior you know and even JR proved a lot of you wrong with some of his recent performances. Forgive me if I don't take a lot of your opinions seriously because a lot of popular NSB opinions on fighters get proven flatout wrong over time.

Based on athletic ability and raw talent means he's a great fighter? So if he retired today he's a great fighter in your eyes? Despite the fact he's fought 1 fighter ranked in the Top 10 in his weight class?
What about Zab Judah? Was he a great fighter when he was young, undefeated and untested too? After all, he had atheltic ability, raw talent, insane handspeed and good power. He was certainly more athletic than Canelo is now. I wouldn't even consider Canelo to be too athletic but for argument's sake let's pretend he is.
This makes him a great fighter? Pretty ****** way to look at it.
Is he a great fighter? The answer is obviously a resounding no.
Will he be? That's yet to be seen as he's completely untested.

I like Canelo the potential is there , but he aint beat any big guys and Im always a bit wary when they bring them along knocking over guys from lower divisions , its the way that they build fighters overseas , they bring older used name fighters from lower divisions , they are perfect showcase opponents .
If Canelo was a WW I feel there would be little call for him to fight Floyd , they would all be saying he is too green , not experienced enough etc etc , in that , the Canelo fight is purely competitive in peoples minds because of the size Floyd is handicapped .
Not that I'm super hyped for Guerrero or in love with this fight, but it's far better right now than Canelo. Guerrero has at least beaten Casamayor and Katsidis at 135, as well as 2 top 10 WW's in Aydin and Berto. Who has Canelo beaten???
I don't want to see Floyd-Canelo until Canelo beats a Trout, Molina, Lara/Vanes, or even a Kirkland or Angulo at least. He needs to get a legit win first.
I mean Floyd-Guerrero doesn't really do anything for Floyd at the moment, other than it's a solid win over top ranked WW. It's a legit fight, against a top ranked fighter, just not a huge fight. Let Canelo beat Trout, than Floyd-Canelo will be a huge fight to make and a legit one finally.
If anyone else fought the #3 ranked fighter in their weight class, it'd be seen as legit. But because it's Mayweather, it's supposedly not a legit fight.
These were Floyd's 2 realistic options for May, and Guerrero has done more and won some legit fights. He deserves the fight.
Canelo has a jab, he fights smart, and he is getting better with each fight. He does have to step up his comp, and I think that he will. His style is unique compared to other Mexican fighters.
Guerrero just can't box and pressuring Floyd won't work because Floyd will go to Guerrero's body to slow him which has always been Guerrero's weakness. You need a jab and body work to be competitive with Floyd. Castillo and Dlh had 3/4 the ingredients to beat Floyd, using height, jab and reach and body shots, but they lacked accuracy, a consistent jab, and a right hands. Floyd is just too smart to try to out brawl. Floyd loves an inside fight because his accuracy rises, and his opponents punch out put is low, or punches are blocked or parried.
