How does Floyd not get credit for beating a guy 3 years ago

Because it's Floyd Mayweather, that's why. Pacquiao outweighed Marquez by more and still got KTFO. Mayweather barely lost a second - so what does that tell you? And he did it coming off a two year layoff.

Love how the fact that Floyd was off for nearly two years gets ignored alot when looking back at this fight.

I dont really point to it because its not like he was forced to take time off from being damaged like Margarito or Hatton.

For all I know that vacation suited him well. Maybe better than if he has just stayed active for the sake of being active.

Its a weight disparity thing. Mayweather was never in any real danger. He fought @ 154 before. He took punches from DLH @ 154. JMM didnt have the firepower to make Mayweather respect him and it showed. It was a great fight to come back from vacation from because there wasn't actually a threat of losing.

And to the folks who say JMM called out Floyd.. Lots of folks call out Floyd. Every top tier athlete in boxing in and around WW calls out Floyd. That is the biggest paycheck you can get. FLoyd could have taken the challenge of any of the guys calling him out. He took JMMs call because it was the safest/smartest move. Was in no way the most dangerous or ballsy move. And look at hindsight, on paper Mayweather can say he beat the man who beat the man. Very smart, but lets not get carried away from the facts.

Floyd does not get any credit whatsoever because he came in 2 pounds heavy.

that fight is just as significant as Broner's win over Escobedo, it don't mean shyt because they cheated the scales.

bottom line is you have to make weight to get credit for a victory.

It was a message to anyone who felt he and manny were equal because of JMM's performance relative to Manny but yeah we can agree it wasn't a dangerous fight.

That said, Manny/JMM 3 and 4 were designed as cash grabs for Manny prior to a floyd fight.

His haters have all kinds of excuses now. The number one excuse is that Marquez is now on PEDs and that is why he was able to KO Pacquiao. The excuse that Mayweather came in over weight now doesn't hold much water because Pacquiao came in even heavier than Mayweather did. The fact of the matter is that Mayweather's style will always give Marquez problems just like Marquez's style has always given Manny problems.

I only wish Floyd would have been able to get in the ring with Manny and take the glory for himself. But because of egos, greed, and politics this fight wasn't able to get made.

stylistically, it would still play out the same... but the biggest factor is motivation. jmm had an axe to grind against pac.... when he fought floyd, it was a payday.

floyd is the superior boxer. period.... but i have no doubt jmm would be better equipped to take some rounds from floyd. but yeah... styles make fights. floyd by CLOSE decision.
