Someone like Devon, let me remind you he lost against Kotelnik, Matthysse, Bradley, so what do you mean someone like Alexander? Please explain cause that didn't sound right to me. Also, I'm basing my analysis off the fact that Devon does not like pressure and Rios is much better at letting off shots in close, he's one of the best infighters/ uppercut artists in the game. Devon still has a lot to prove, and I fully expected him to beat Maidana if that's what your wondering.

For one, Abril is a much better defensive fighter than Alexander, he's more mobile and is skilled enough to fight with a low output, that isn't Alexander who's known to exchange and let off combinations, again...I don't see the comparison. Both may have had success in their game plan but they applied their work differently, they don't operate in the same manner. Alexander only has one way of defending in close and that's to clinch, Abril knows how to use his shoulders to block punches and counter. Not to get all repetitive but please remember that Rios had no business fighting at LW, Murray proved this, a healthy Rios wouldn't have allowed that to go past the 5th and it actually reached the 11th.

Not sure I can remember a pair of winning fighters criticized as heavily the week after their wins like Donaire and Rios. I'm sure it's happened, but I can't remember.

TS is trolling for reactions. He's getting off on it. He might not like Rios. But he doesn't feel he's a bum.

            Don't worry TS I understand.
Yea but it has been fun reading the responses surprised it took this long to call me out on my bs.

I can't stand Rios's big mouth, but the action he provides is undeniable. I actually enjoy seeing him fight, regardless of how one-dimensional he may seem. His will and chin is definitely something to appreciate. Rios is not a bum, the only top 140lb fighter I'd outright favor over him is Matthysse. Marquez/Garcia/Khan are 50-50 fights. He still has time to develop his skill-set, but his intangibles make him a force.
He's on SI's p4p list. I believe he's top 15. I don't get why u think he would beat Matthyse but it's not a ridiculous opinion. He's a 50-50 fight with most guys at 140 I agree but Alvarado imo has been overrated in build up to this fight with Rios.

Chad Dawson looked so much better weighing in against Ward than Rios looked in his last two outings at LW, but lets give all glory to Abril and disregard Ward's win. You guys kill me sometimes. Stylistically Abril will always be problematic, Rios attempting to make '35 made it that much worse.

No, I said "favor over him", meaning I would favor Lucas over Rios. Alvarado is a solid 140lb fighter, we needed to see how Rios would handle the weight and how he would handle fighting a bigger fighter. Rios did perfectly fine, sure he was getting outboxed, but it was a competitive fight and he got the victory. He can only go up from here. We know he can get out-boxed, but that doesn't mean that he'll lose to every boxer.

Oh ok I misunderstood. I agree very good fight to see how he could handle 140 and he did a good job. I think Alvarado was overrated in build up to this fight but its not like he is a bum. My question is how long will Rios be able to make 140 without compromising himself like he did against Murray and Abril?

which is why i think he gets a beating by alexander. all devon does is circle and move so i don't see how abril could be any more mobile than him. and clinching the way he does will neutralize rios' entire arsenal. he easily got outboxed with a jab by alvarado of all people. devon would probably urango his ass but it seems rios is somehow on bradley or matthysse level though. we'll just have to disagree on that.
