And then Beat Jean Pascall twice.

Also, Hokins entire gameplan was to lower Calzaghes work rate as much as possible, and he still couldn't keep him below 70 punches a round despite pulling out every trick in the book.

too bad 69 of those didn't land. also they can hardly be called punches if there is no forward to back movement and it's done with the inside of the glove. side to side is a slap and not even legal. calzaghe should have been dq'd for committing hundreds of fouls.

no but in some of the rounds he landed zero clean punches(rounds the judges still gave to calzaghe for some reason). most of the first 8 rounds he landed 1-3. also i was talking about clean hard shots. the lil slappy things that calzaghe did don't compare to the punches hopkins landed and calzaghe could barely land those little things till much later in the fight.you said hopkins landed 1 punch every 3 rounds which is just comical. hopkins outlanded calzaghe in most of the rounds by a wide margin but why should that matter? calzaghe would not be denied! his missing was so impressive!

I didn't say he landed one punch every three rounds, I said one GOOD punch. And obviously I was exaggerating. My point was Hopkins was too inactive for much of the fight and you can't do that against a high volume puncher, even if the high volume puncher doesn't land such hard shots.

Anyway, this topic has been beaten to death.

Nah I could feel genuine respect for Ward in your post. Admit it, you like praising fighters. It feels good doesn't it? Come on get out of the hate closet.

Well, Hopkins did look to be in a lot of pain after some of Calzaghe's punches. The ones aimed downstairs, anyway.

calzaghe wasn't landing good punches or bad punches. he simply wasn't landing. hopkins wasn't landing a lot compared to a gatti-ward fight but he was easily outlanding calzaghe who was his opponent on that night. you would think that's good enough but i guess not. yeah he got tired and lost most of the last 4 rounds but the first 8 rounds count too don't they? the judges had calzaghe winning the fight after 6 when he did absolutely nothing anyway so the fix was already in no matter what happened.

hopkins wasn't inactive as a boxer. maybe his offense wasn't top notch but his defense and movement was always on. he made calzaghe miss basically all his punches then waited for his opportunties and landed good clean punches without getting hit. repeat process. they used to call that boxing.
