Great question; Between top Calzaghe and Ward, I'd go for Calzaghe.
My own answer suprising me; but it's my feeling...

I have to say Calzaghe.

People really underestimate him. He could adapt to any style, and his workrate speaks for itself. Ward would be gassed in the late rounds trying to keep up with joe.

And i know Andre ward is looked upto like god in these parts, but i'm just going with my feeling.

Ward,Joe wouldn't make it easier but Ward would punish Joe for every mistake and he made a lot.Short crisp punching vs fast slaps would make for a wide decision for Ward

This is close. I think Ward is awesome but I would give the nod to Calzaghe.

Reasons being he was so unorthodox... he was basically everywhere punching from all kinds of angles.

His work rate was unreal... throwing upto 1000 punches a fight (thats impressive for a SMW). This goes with his unreal stamina.

Had a great chin so taking Wards shots wouldn't have been the biggest problem due to his own lack of defense. (pls dont mentions the flash KDs against hopkins and RJJ)
