LOL at calzaghe's best win is an 8-4 decision over Kessler and decision over 2 40+ year old fighters.

Ward knocked out a more experienced kessler and won the super 6.

joe needs to come back. i find it utterly ****ing shady that he retired as soon as 168 started getting great competition. Its like floyd retiring after the hatton fight when 147 was the hottest and deepest division in all of boxing. At least floyd came back.

joe will never get respect from american fans unless he comes back and takes ward and the rest of 168 on.

joe needs to come back. ******* is a very expensive drug.

he was forced into retirement basically. pavlik was the best at 160 and he didn't want to fight him, he didn't want to fight froch or any of the up and comers at 168, and he didn't want to fight dawson at 175 or hopkins in a rematch so he robbed a bank with a jones ppv and got the hell out like a coward.

Ward fights like prime hopkins calzaghe could barely slap his way to a gift over old hopkins. Ward would stop him.

Not surprised you're one of the dumbasses who think Hopkins was "robbed". He lost because Calzaghe moved too much to be headbutted, held and hit. Go camp outside a mall for sneakers, Nate.

              Hope all is well.

As for the thread question, I think it would have been one hell of a tough fight for both. I'd say its a toss up.

It's just not fair. Ward has both Irish and African blood... that's a lethal genetic hybrid for boxing!

Joking aside, Ward wants his opponents to come to him and attack, and he seems even more effective at exploiting mistakes than Hopkins was. Ward reacts to pressure, speed, and workrate very well.

Wait until Dirrell - Ward comes to see how well Ward neutralizes speed.

This would be a very interesting matchup. Calzaghe is still underestimated to this day.

He is a stylistic nightmare for just about anyone. He throws lots of punches, has very very fast hands, has a solid chin, fantastic ability to adapt, decent power, and to top it all off, he is an extremely awkward southpaw that throw punches from all kinds of unconventional angles.

He reminds me of a more awkward Sergio Martinez, that isn't scared to take a shot to get in an exchange with you.

yeah he moved right into hopkins fists over and over. oh but he threw a lot of punches that missed so there's that important scoring criteria that I missed.

It'd be a close decision. Probably Calzaghe takes the win though.
