In Tennis, do people consider Bill Johnston a "great" or a "legend"

he's the equivilant of these overhyped guys, who would be torn to shreds by the "true" greats

Boxing fans with their unrealistic standards. 20 years from now they will be considered all time greats.

Lmao, Andre Ward has almost surpassed Lil Floyd already, and he's only been at the top level for a couple of years.

Mayweather spent his entire career ducking threats.

They are both great, and well within the top 100. In fact within the top 50, on achievements they are maybe not comparable to the top 10. But on physical talent, athletiscm, they are unbelievable, two of the most gifted athletes to ever lace them up, and that matters. Pacquiao's combination of power and speed has rarely been matched in any era I have seen, the quickness of foot, combine that with an iron chin, underrated skill and technique.

Floyd again is one of the most gifted athletes that ever laced them up, combine that with phenomenal skill, technique, and one of the best defensive fighters of all time.

Not to mention that both guys are 15 round fighters, they both had incredible stamina and probably would have been better over the longer distance.

You will realise in 10 years when they are both gone. Dumb ass thread.

Earl, Interesting that you have mentioned Ward. He is the one fighter in recent times that I have tipped for greatness. I just don't see him ducking anyone. Mayweather could have taken on key fights when the fighters were in their prime but he has been selective and this takes something away from his legacy. If he had fought Moseley years ago and Manny 3 years ago his greatness would not be questioned. Personally I think Mayweather is great but IMO there are ???? about the degree of greatness simply because he did not fight the big name guys at the right time.

Ah, here we go, i wondered how long it would take.

Ricky Hatton is nothing more than a local hero, and i'm not making him out to be anymore than that.

If u think Andre ward has surpassed either then there is your problem rite there. U don't know what ur talking about and u don't kno what makes either great. Wards resume alone is not scene comparable to Floyd's when he was the same age.

Tennis is a bad comparison, there's no weightclasses in tennis. A better comparison is NFL: a top 50 player all time is very impressive, top 50 full back not so much.
