they are both all time greats.

pacquiao has historical achievements never done before in the history of boxing, easily top 30. for all the hate floyd gets (im one of his biggest haters) he is great fighter. easily top 50.

Are they in the same league as ali, robinson, duran?

      ABSOLUTELY.

I hate this shameless, dishonest, ridiculous glorification of old fighters and in general old athletes into mythological proportions.

Nobody can be better or as good than wilt or russell?

      WRONG & **** YOU LIAR.

Nobody can be better or as good Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb?

      WRONG & **** YOU LIAR.

The worst offender of this sin?

      Boxing.

Harry Greb he is so ****ing awesome, only a cyborg from the future can beat since nobody has fight footage of him. Henry Armstrong, what a GOD. 3 division titles at the same time, pacquiao had to roid to eve come close. Ray Robinson, i agree he is the greatest, but please, the man lost more than 10 times.

THEY ARE HUMAN BEINGS. Stop this over glorification of old athletes FOR THE SAKE OF PRESERVING HISTORY.

MODERN ATHLETES >>>>>>>>>>>> ATHLETES WHO ACCRUED THEIR GREATNESS BEFORE 1970.

They're good fighters, but to me they're not great.

If Manny was more of a student of the game, as many of the old timers were, he would be a much better fighter. But instead, he insists on staying with Roach and not learning anything new.

Floyd missed out on a lot of good fights when he retired. He still ended up with a good resume, and he's looking for the toughest fights now, but his resume still doesn't compare to fighters from the 80's or 70's for example, let alone the entire history of boxing.

They both may be great fighters in THIS era, but this kind of a sorry era for boxing anyway.

See, the thing is it's not glorification of the fighters themselves. It's the environment that makes the difference. You can't compare it to a sport like basketball, that grew in popularity and skill. There were more fighters period. More trainers. More gyms. More skills being thought. More knowledge floating around. More experience being gain from fighting more often. You saw club fighters and prospects back then doing things that world champions can't do today.

Also, the fact that it's a weight class sport means so-called "advanced" training methods don't make that much of a difference. 147 pounds of bone and muscle is still 147 pounds of bone and muscle in any era.
