Serious question. How is Martinez/Floyd the same as Martinez/Ward?

Sergio going to 168 is not the same as floyd at 154, because floyd has been at 154 twice & is a 2 time champ there.
Martinez has never ever been to 168,ever.
Floyd would be fighting at 154 for a 3rd time, 4th if he ducks martinez & fights ginger instead.

BushBaby's excuse is sergio had never fought at 168? Really thats the best you could come up with? What about Duran jumping 2 weights he was never at and beating Leonard? What about when Floyd moved to 135,140,147,154? He was brave enough to do it why can't sergio? And like i've said and got no reply Floyd is in his 5th weight As a champ, Sergio in his 3rd and second as a champ, infact Why did Dawson have to challenge ward? De La Hoya didn't go looking for Floyd
Just answer why Floyd should fight Sergio when Sergio won't fight Ward? **** let sergio even fight Lara who said he'd fight him at 154 or 160, but let me guess that doesnt make sense because of money and boom sergio's no better than anyone, so **** of a find better things to do than insult the best fighter of the Era

Martinez would be bigger than Floyd (height/reach/weight) @154. If he's not weight-drained, I think that he'd clearly be a tougher out than Cotto/Canelo. If the Chavez fight showed me anything, it's that Sergio is a thinking fighter. He might fall into a pattern, but he knows how to box and has a skill-set to take notice of. Couple that with his physical attributes, and he makes for a 50-50 fight with Mayweather.
It seems like everyone would agree on a Floyd/Sergio fight if Martinez defeats Canelo (and/or Cotto). Sergio needs to prove he can beat the "best" at 154 first before fighting Floyd.Last edited by kiaba360; 09-19-2012, 11:10 AM.

Martinez vs. Cotto at 154. Make the fight. Cotto is active, hes ready. All he has to do is beat trout.

So Floyd taking a risk and fighting outside of his comfort zone should go against him? I'm not against Floyd fighting Martinez at 154lb or 160lb. At 160lb I feel he'd lose but he'd have the opportunity to make history.
What I'm against is hypocrites, people who feel it is okay for other fighters to take risks fighting outside of their natural division yet when it comes to Martinez it is acceptable to hide behind the fact that he never fought that high before. There's a first time for everything in life.
