Joe Louis? Willie Pep? Benny Leonard? maybe Henry Armstrong

I just fail to see what Sugar Ray did that puts him head & shoulders above the rest, do you know what I mean?

Could this guy beat the other great fighters head-to-head in his respected weight class?
Carlos Monzon, Marvin Hagler, Harry Greb...
I don't think so but then again I suppose the reply here ''This wasn't Sugarmans prime weight class''
Well the way people go on, you'd of thought he'd beat every middleweight in history on the same night.
    You are a ignorant fool

Sugar ray robinson had ONE loose in his first 137 pro fight`s and that loose was revenged with a win.
And there where plenty of greats between the 137.Have exactly is that not GOAT worthy ?

You can count it for yourself at boxrec if you think i am liar.

You say he is terribly flawed, well you can say that about any boxer using your logic,(except maybe for prime Roy jones jr).
Ali was a terrible body puncher,Tyson couldn't handle it when he got pressed,Froch looks like a drunken fool in there yet still came in nr 2 as the worlds second best 168`er,Vitali looks like a slow robot with terrible defence.

Sugar ray wasn't flawless, but if you where a fighter you would know that its not about looking good in there its about who poses his will on the other man, and Ray sure did his thing.

When he got older he started having loses, soo? was Roy jones Jr less of a fighter in his prime just because he gets knocked out by taxi drivers today ?

Dan, I can tell you're new-ish to the sport and you should go read about SRR. You won't learn much on here about him but you'll soon understand why he's regarded as the best ever.

Murderer's row is another interesting piece of boxing history, definitely worth a look.

Robinson is not the most complete boxer ever

dude, no way in hell will you ever convince anyone that pep & benny are rated higher then robinson..........i could sorta see a argument for Armstrong.

monzon & hagler were natural middleweights..........& yes, i could see robinson out boxing & decisioning both.

Pretty much. They're all horsehair, which are easy to manipulate so there's basically no padding over the knuckles.

robinson was a great fighter but tends to get really overrated in H2H matchups. i saw a thread "Robinson vs Hearns @ 147" and robinson had like 70%+ of the votes. lol hearns most likely would've KILLED robinson (based on the footage of robinson presented)

You mean the way Hearns was supposed to "kill" Ray Leonard? And instead got KTFO? :thinking9:

um as someone has already pointed out, robinson was an offensive minded fighter. lol robinson didn't have the footwork, let alone foot speed and reflexes to execute the gameplan leonard did (who danced most of the fight and still got a detached retina lol). the only way he could beat hearns if he lured him into a wild brawl like hagler. but looking at the footage, robinson will most likely get killed if he tried this strategy. the only thing going for him is an improbable puncher's chance. robinson is no hagler.

I'd suggest you watch the ENTIRE fight and not just the highlights: Leonard spent the last two-thirds of that fight stalking Hearns like a slugger. It was Hearns who was on the bicycle trying to dance behind his jab.

Got to love these dip****s that run their cum dumpsters and don't even watch the damn fights.
