Rigo is ducking Mares so hard....

I heard GBP offered Rigo a once in a life time deal to fight Mares but Rigo blatantly ducked him and he signed to fight some unknown unranked fighter instead...

But on the other hand, if Arum wants to keep Rigo he's gonna have to give him something worth staying for. If I was Rigo I'd ask Arum to put in my contract that I'll fight one of the following in my next fight :

-The Donaire/Nishioka winner
-The Marquez/Vasquez Jr winner
-Montiel
-Mijares
-Agbeko

If Arum says no I switch to golden boy in a heartbeat.

That sounds good and makes sense but we all know Arum can include that but will have clauses where if those fights don't happen he is not in breach of that contract. Rigo best bet is to just leave cause Arum has agendas just like most promoters and that is to go with the fighter that makes him the most money not go with who is actually the best fighter. Unless Rigo can show him that he can make him as much money as Donaire its not gonna happen IMO.

The only fighters that you can blame for not fighting others fighters are Floyd and PAC. They are at the level where they can pick who they fight. Rigo is not at that level.

Do you really think Rigo picked Marroquin after calling out all the top guys? Of course not. TopRank is guiding his career. His career is in their hands. Rigo was at the Donaire/Narvaez or Donaire/Vasquez fight and nobody mentioned him.

What I know about this entire situation:

-Arum has been hesitant to match Donaire with Rigo, knowing the threat he presents. His objective is to build him into the next Filipino star, and to do that, he needs to put him in entertaining match-ups.

-On the topic of Rigo, Donaire has talked about his defensive/boring style, lack of pro inexperience, inability to draw, etc. Then he chucked the blame on his managers/promoters, but also stating that he has a $$$ guarantee regardless of the quality of his opposition. He's also said that he prefers to fight a "true fighter" like Mares over Rigo. I've heard enough interviews to know that Team Donaire is gonna look to make fights happen with Nishi/Arce/Mares before Rigo.

-Mares has stated that he will not avoid Rigo like Donaire, and is willing to face him. It's also been stated by a member of Team Rigo that GBP has made an offer worth big $$$.

-Team Rigo has called out Donaire/Mares/Arce, and Rigo has already begun the trash-talking.

So from what I've gathered, my opinion is that the managers/promoters are the ones ****ing up the match-ups, which is nothing new. They are forcing fighters to choose between the 2 big promotions and are limiting their options. Mares/Rigo/Donaire have stated that they want to fight each other, although Donaire has brought up $$$ and seems hesitant to fight Rigo. We will see what happens.

Rigo was offered a contract to sign with Golden Boy, not the Mares fight.

But I do feel that Rigo should at least be pushing for fights with guys like Molitor, Shimoda, Ndlovu, etc.

But I do feel that Rigo should at least be pushing for fights with guys like Molitor, Shimoda, Ndlovu, etc.
