Arum has been protecting Donaire, do not be fooled. If Rigo wasn't a threat, Arum would've made the fight after Rigo won his title from Ramos. Arum is even on record saying that he thinks Donaire would eventually lose to the likes of Rigo/Gamboa/Juanma/Salido.

Rigo does need to make some more noise and start fighting better guys. Too many fighters if they can't get the money fight instead fighting they guys ranked 2,3,4,5 they instead fighy guys ranked 20,21,22,23. After the win they act like they just beat a world beater and want all the respect in the world. GTFOH with that.
Sorry to have to be the one to break it to you but ... DONAIRE COULDNT DRAW FLIES TO **** !!!!! I think he sold like 1,000 tickets in his last fight (Mathebula) and I'm sure alot of those tickets were given away for free not to mention the fight took place in his state about 40 minutes from his hometown !!! ... At the very least Rigo can do similar numbers at the gate in Miami or probably anywhere if its promoted properly ... Donaire is no SUPERSTAR himself ... FAR FROM IT !!!!!!!

Rigo was offered a contract to sign with Golden Boy, not the Mares fight.

But I do feel that Rigo should at least be pushing for fights with guys like Molitor, Shimoda, Ndlovu, etc.
not interested in seeing Rigo fight a guy who contemplated retirement after only his second loss.

At least Molitor beat Ndlovu twice. It's a hell of a lot better than Kennedy and Marroquin.

Im tired of hearing what I am about to write, but I'll say it to prove a point. If Rigo is not a threat, why not fight him to win the 3rd title that Donaire says is a goal of his?

If I was a top fighter, and there was a champion that had a belt in my division that was not a threat, I would take it in less than a heart beat.

If there was a girl that nobody wanted but she had something that you REALLY WANTED and you knew that you could EASILY get it, would you go after it? I would.

I can only guess what steps the mastermind will take, by analyzing the decisions he's already made. I see what he did with Gamboa/Juanma and how he allowed it to fizzle out. I see how he said he would make a match between Gamboa and the winner of Juanma/Salido 2. My guess is, he wanted to get Gamboa out of Donaire's path, so he was willing to sacrifice one rising star (Juanma) for another cuz Donaire has much more potential. His objective is to make Donaire the next Filipino star. Why else would he take GBP to court over Donaire's contract? If Arum didn't see some potential in Donaire, he would've just let him out of his contract, and allowed GB to have him. He made an investment, and he's gonna build him up as high as he possibly can before he lets him sink or swim on his own. Donaire's hit list at first was Vasquez/Arce/Nishioka. Rigondeaux won a title and now he's waiting for Donaire at the exit. Now the question is, will Arum allow Donaire/Rigo to fizzle out, or will he man up and let Nonito sink or swim? If Nonito fights Arce after Nishi and leaves, many will scream DUCK. I think that Rigo is the doomsday option, he's the last one that will get a call from the 4 options Arum mentioned (Nishioka/Arce/Mares/Rigo). Arum loves in-house fights, but is he willing to pit his next potential star against the most dangerous opponent, just to keep all the profits? Arum's true intentions tend to be hidden within the lies and the rhetoric, sometimes I don't even think he knows what he's gonna do next lol. All he knows for sure is, "I need another Pacquiao."

He even let Gamboa go without much of a fight, Nonito is going up in weight and YG was there for him...
