I don't understand your post. On the one hand, you seem to imply that Rigo should've left Top Rank to fight Mares; on the other, you speculate that Arum might've offered Guillermo a bigger fight and more money. If those are the only choices, there is no choice. Top Rank it is.

Anyway, I started a thread touching on this topic a few days ago. The Marroquin match is a one fight deal Rigo agreed to with Top Rank, while they negotiate a possible extension. Apparently, Arum really wanted the fight on undercard of the Sept. 15 Chavez-Martinez PPV.

Terrible comparison. Nishioka is not unranked at the weight, nor coming off 2 shutouts and a draw

Just don't be upset if some fans give him crap for not fighting anyone worth a darn as of yet...while Nonito is out there unifying world championship belts and taking on the #1 guy in the division.
I probably follow Rigo a little more than you do. The man speaks up. Informed fans can't give Guillermo crap. He's got ten pro fights under his belt. The bigger names are the ones that hold all the cards. It's extremely naive to think that Rigondeaux will get whatever fight he happens to ask for.

Currently, everyone wants to fight Donaire. In all fairness, Nonito can only fight one guy at a time. I give Donaire props for taking on Nishioka. In the meantime, Rigo is fighting whomever his promoter puts in front of him. What more can be reasonably expected, under the circumstances?

The same people who use the argument "He only has 10 fights, he's not ready for Donaire" will also b!tch and complain about him fighting Marroquin/Mijares cuz it won't get him ready. It's either he fights Donaire and is viewed as his equal, or he continues to improve his resume fighting contenders and is viewed as a prospect.

not really..vasquez jr , poon, or rafa (even at this point is hell of a lot better than all of rigo's past opponets and the ones he's fighting now...im not really that sold on a nonito fight at this point coz nonito gets nothing from it...if he beats riog, peopl will just say he only got 10 fights and he was'nt ready...

Not really, it's as legit a fight as it gets at 122.

Nishioka is ranked #1 by Ring magazine. And it's a well deserved ranking.

That's fine, you can lay the blame on his promoter for this.

But the fact remains that Nonito is accomplishing more impressive things in the division and his star is rising. While Rigo seemingly just sits there doing nothing.
