I don't see the star quality is this kid, all I see is a fully pledged welterweight that has feasted on nothing but midgets and a glass chinned Litzau.

Legs are VERY far apart, footwork isn't very good but does have good upper body movement, not a very good jab, lunges in almost like hes trying to bellyflop his opponent, open all night long for the left hook.

A big guy in a small, very weak division if you ask me.

Lmao this guy is seriously like 5ft8½ & rehydrates to 155

Honestly look at this, cardigan & a tad closer to the camera or not this guy fcukin dwarfs Alexander & Maidana!

I think he's a hype job lost to faded De leon and has fought stiffs ever since. Escobedo is a bit over the hill but I'll root for him. When Broner can beat or have the balls to fight guys like Gamboa than I'll say he legit but what I see he's a protected champion at this time

Why is the standard for Broner to be considered good beating Gamboa? Do you require that of everyone at or around 130? Or just him because you don't like what he does outside the ring.

I think he's a talented fighter. I think we are going to be seeing a lot more of this guy. People don't like him because he's arrogant but he does have some skills. I don't really get the Mayweather comparison though. The only thing he does like Mayweather is posture like him a bit from what I've seen.

Boxrec has him listed at 5'7" so I don't know where TS is getting 5'8.5" from. He is tall for the division he's in but he's still young and will undoubtedly move up. I'm looking forward to seeing him fight this weekend. He sure is an annoying, ****y prick though.

ppl seem to ignore the fact that the kid is 22 years old and he has steadily improved his arsenal. another thing, for his age, he's been in the ring with some decent opposition. after the escobedo fight, he will have a better resume than anyone else around his age (under 25). i mean look at mikey garcia hes 2 years older and his resume is trash. much worse than broners.

but i guess ppl ignore these things when u act like floyd or u piss them off. i can understand not liking the kids persona, but to deny he has abilities in the ring is silly.

Still I was comparing him to other PFP kings and even at that early stage of their careers, they looked much better in my opinion.
i totally forgot ioka, u have me with that one. its hard to consider that kids age, hes something tho. and garcia does to but he didnt a week ago. so that is also correct.

and u are rite about other p4p kings, but none of these youngsters are anywhere near the likes of floyd, manny, jones etc. the only one i see is ioka and i doubt he'll ever get the recognition he deserves. but i get your point ad i agree with that much

Canelo's resume is better which isn't saying much.

I got almost all of my points invested in him, so I guess that means I'm sold lol. A young prospect/titlist who's trying to pattern himself after one of the best fighters in boxing, what's wrong with that?? It might not seem natural, but he's making the style work for him and he looks competent using it. He wears the counter-punching style well, but like some have said already, he needs to learn how to create the opportunities instead of sitting back and waiting. He has the physical attributes to be a force, and he's also improving with each fight. If he's this good right now, I can't wait to see what he looks like in 4-5 years. I think he'll do great 135 and face plenty of tough competition at 140.

i used to think so. but with the escobedo fight, i think broners resume overtakes canelo. the best fighter either of them has ever fought is ponce. escobedo/rhodes are about even. and from there on theres a lot of pick'ems. but its close. ive always thought canelo had the better resume, but he hasnt done anything of note all year. hes not even fighting fighters within his division

He did that well in his last fight. That's also how he beat Litzau although he sat back the entire rd before that.
