It's amazing at how long a "name" can last in boxing. Not a relevant "name" or a credible "name" on a win streak or a "name" that offers any type of competitiveness. Guys like Mosley who hasn't won since Jan of 2009 and Mayorga who hasn't beaten anyone of note since 2007 continue to line up not only fights, but, fights on PPV. This fight doesn't deserve a Mex independence date, is laughable compared to JCC Jr vs Martinez and shouldn't even be sanctioned. I'll give Canelo a break for trying to make fights against Pwill, Kirk and Ortiz but there's a slew of other competitive young fighters out there (Molina, Lara, Vanes, Trout). I think the point is Canelo doesn't have one competitive win on his resume and this fight does not make "history" Oscar.

Mayorga fits the MO

Mosley,Cintron,Gomez,Rhodes,Hatton,Ndou,Bladomir,C uello,Cotto. Do you see a pattern here? Williams go owned by Lara. Kirkland was owned by Molina and ktfo by a unknown Jap. He ko Angulo but he got exposed as Ortiz got exposed by Berto you saw a good fight I saw a reckless fighter with no defensive skills. GBP was cashing out Ortiz or Kirkland in order to built Canelo. They needed a big name because it was a ppv event, but these guys were far from a threat. Maywheater is smart and he was ring side for Berto vs Ortiz, he saw the flaws on Ortiz's Style. The only challenges for Canelo are Mayweahther and Cotto, because Lara and Molina are high risk low reward fights. Trout and Martirosyan haven't been tested. Bundrage is an awkward, strong, dirty brawler who makes ugly fights, part wrestling part bar fight. Canelo should stand up to his promoters. I'm calling it Canelo vs. Pavlik 2013.

You can't blame him for it. He's a young kid being paid by these guys, of course he's going to listen to them. They already tried to sign all the top fighters available, so its not like they intended to feed him a bum. Although, they could have easily found someone better than Mayorga.
