I agree it's a terrible fight ... but were you hating on Canelo when he signed up to Fight P Will, Kirkland and Ortiz ?? those fights were signed by him and fell apart for reasons beyond his control, just saying he did try and sign a competitive fight how quick everyone forgets

P.Williams/Ortiz/Kirkland. Williams wasn't the best fight available, but it was a fight that made sense. Ortiz didn't make much sense. Kirkland got injured.

Ortiz and Kirkland were pretty good match ups considering Canelo hasn't fought anyone on that level yet. People were surprised and excited when hearing the news he was going to sign those fights. Its debatable whether they were the best out there for him at the time. Of course Ortiz doesn't seem like it now.

Just because these match-ups failed, doesn't mean that they should stop trying and go with the likes of Mayorga. Mayorga is one of the worst choices they could've gone with.

I kinda thought Canelo was getting past these types of matchups and I can't really see how Mayorga is worthy of a title shot these days. But it should be entertaining, at least.

Nothing against Canelo....but is this the GREAT FIGHT that De La Hoya has been bragging about??? This is a slap in the face not only to boxing fans, but to Canelo himself. Worst of all, this is the fight Golden Boy is going to put head to head against Chavez vs Martinez? Has Golden Boy lost their marbles? Canelo does not deserve this. His Pay per View numbers will pummel and he might end up having to take lower purses in his upcoming fights. Canelo should man up and demand that Golden Boy changes the day of this event.

This a lose-lose situation for Canelo. He's fighting someone he's supposed to beat (again) and if he looks bad, he'll get criticized. If Canelo doesn't stop Mayorga, then GB has a big problem. Not stopping Mosley is one thing, but not stopping a faded fighter who has been stopped numerous times in his career? Canelo via 7th round TKO.

I agree. I'm thinking if they do put this on regular TV, they are picking Mayorga, because he will hype the fight up better than anyone else and give Canelo the exposure they are looking for. I think putting the fight on regular TV has the potential to cause people to watch the fight that didn't know about Canelo before it. Seeing Mayorga talk mad **** in the build up, is the best thing for exposure at this point. I don't thing its that bad of a move, but it is disappointing to boxing fans.

Who the hell cares about "style that Canelo hasn't seen". You know he's freaking world champions now? Tons of fighters are working hard to get to that one title shot yet Mayorga is getting not deserved one for years one by another just because he makes clowns out of himself and screams the loudest. If Canelo wants to learn different styles he should leave that belts to fighters that wants to compete.

Those wasn't "all best fights" and they were not best either.
Williams was great fight, but they obviously thought Paul was finished, then Kirkland was coming of a fight when he was schooled and got a gift and was also coming off a injury and Ortiz was smaller man. There are definitely better fights than Kirkland and Ortiz still avaible.

Im on this one with you man. I was a fan from the first time I saw him fight in the US but Im done. Im no longer behind this kid. Whether he fights Cotto or Floyd next cause it's obvious if he does it will be just for the money. No way he beats neither one of these two. Especially fighting these shot fighters. Anyone who believes Canelo wanna fight the top dudes (Lara, Kirkland, Molina, Trout) in his division is full of ****.
