We don't know exactly how broken his jaw was, if it was snapped or just cracked, if the bone broke the skin on the inside of his mouth. Ortiz did say that the jaw was broken around the 1st round. That's an awful lot of rounds to fight with a ****ed up kisser, getting popped with hard shots from a man that came to win.
His jaw was not broken in the 1st round. That was just a ****** moment he had, once they questioned him he corrected himself and said it happened in the 9th.

Exactly we dont know how badly he hurt it once again i would have loved for him too have continued but its a tad bit easy to call someone a quitter when your relaxing infront off your computer. On the point about it being broken in the first Victor said that wrong in the interview he meant too say at the start off the round 9

Doesn't matter, Ortiz's job consists of being hit repeatedly in the face. I do not see how we can even bash him for not continuing to be hit repeatedly on a broken bone. Some fighters can, others can. Those that can't shouldn't be criticized.

It wasn't unreasonable for Ortiz to quit.

He took bombs all night. If he wanted out he would have found a better way to do it, and sooner, than wait for his jaw to break.

We can bash him because he has a history of quitting, he had a huge payday on the line, he was winning the fight, his corner wanted him to continue, he didn't even try to fight with the injury, and there is a long history of fighters continuing to fight with similar or worse injuries.

If Ortiz can't handle that, which his entire career suggests he can't, he should find something else to do with his life.

Stop & think for 1 second here. Ortiz would not have made the september 15th date with a broken jaw anyway homey.

I asked the question because it seemed many people would easily label Ortiz a quitter without thinking about whether it was physically possible for him to continue.
U are right about how there are different types of jsw fractures. This is also something people should consider. Some fighters can continue, but im sure many couldnt. If he couldnt close his mouth would the doctor of stopped it?

Yeah, because quitting and screwing himself again was the better option. We've seen this over and over with this guy.

The second his jaw broke fighting ginger was not gonna happen. He was screwed anyway.
