    • Catchweights have always been part of boxing, so get over it. And it will continue to be part of boxing in the future. Sometimes you need them to make the fights you want to see where the fighters are not in the same division.

      • There is absolutely nothing wrong with Pacs CW fight with cotto at 145. The only people who criticise Pac for that is cos of their hate for Pac, and not the actual CW.

Many people have had CWs before Pac had a CW with Cotto. But its like Pac has set a precedent and was the first to to do it. If these Pac haters dont want to talk about all the other boxers who did it, they are just hating and being spiteful, just as long as we know where we stand on this thats fine.

Yesir, kenny Powers, and deadlikeme are typical of the Pac haters, they voted its all Pacs fault. No point in trying to reason with these kids.

Your talking dribble , Pac wanted Cotto himself , PAC WANTED COTTO !!!! and Cotto said OK but no CW and Pac sheet himself and went looking for a JWW , thats FACTUAL !

Pac only beat Cotto because of the draining and he knows it , the PROOF ! he REFUSES to fight Cotto without a draining back then and again now without a draining ,,, bragging a beat down when the opponent is handicapped while he DUCKS him when not drained is bullsheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet !!

Lots of people would like to see Cotto Pac 11 , WITHOUT A CW , it would do bigger numbers than Bradley and Pac would of earned more money himself ,,, QUACK QUACK !

I will never sacrifice my body like that again > Miguel Cotto on making 145 for Pac

There's nothing to defend. Dawson called him out to fight at 168, Ward accepted.

            • At the end of the day, these fighters are professionals. No one's forcing them to fight. If they feel it's ok then it's ok, who are we to question. Once they accept it, it's done, don't be going back.

Don't go accepting a fight at a catchweight then later on complain about it when you lose. That's just being a sad loser.

Can you lay blame at Manny but not at Andre, I find it hard to believe you can, unless you apply double standards.

I seen numerous posters criticise Pacquiao for his fights against, Cotto, Margarito, and for wanting the 2nd fight against Cotto at 147 lbs, but very few people criticise Ward for not fighting Dawson at 175 lbs

If anything Pacquiao should be criticised less.

After all he had already rose up through 8 weight class and could not reach the weight limit of the division he was fighting in and he gave away weight advantages in the ring against Marg and Cotto.

Ward on the other hand is a big super middle and can easily make the light-heavy limit.

Margarito was a carrer welter and was very comfortable at 150 lb.
Cotto a former light-wetler and only had to weigh in 1 lb less than his previous fight.

Dawson on the other hand is a career light-heavy, definitely not small at the weight but now has to drop 7lbs to face a top p4p fighter.

So can you crticise Pacquiao but not Ward and not show blatant double standards?

                Poll Coming!!!
I don't like it. But Ward has been pretty much left out being the best guy. If you hear them color commentators and opinion makers you'll be sick to your stomach - they don't want to see Ward vs Froch or Ward vs Kessler. Ward has to fight and he's smart, going up in weight at this stage isn't the best move. I wish he fought Froch, Bute and Kessler - those are the best guys.

                • Are people going to accuse Dawson of being dumb for going down in weight? No one is mentioning Dawsons reason for asking to fight at 168, other than he wants to fight and thinks he can beat Ward, at 168 or 175!

Cotto thought he could beat Pac at 145 so at the time weight is not an issue, just get the fight made is the over riding issue.

make no mistake Cotto only asked for 145lbs because Manny would never have took 147lbs or 146lbs and he knew realistically that 145lbs was the lowest he could go. he didn't take it willingly as his own demand he basically offered that as a counteroffer to something much more unfair (143lbs), it wasn't something he wanted on his own like how you're twisting the facts and articles to make it seem like and fit your Pacquiao defending agenda
Miguel's own words. 145 lbs was his offer. He would have probably prefered 147 but Dawson would have preferred to fight at 175 lbs too.
