At that time Clottey>>>>Foreman...No question about it.

    Yuri Foreman
Which is why Pacman fought a proven cheater & welterweight former title holder at a mannyweight for a 154lb title in a weight class neither deserved to be ranked in, ok.

I think the Foreman fight would have been far more presentable than the farce that happened.

Yea but that was after contradicting himself saying he had no problem making 145 and that after Foreman if the money was right he would go back down to WW. It's cool he made an excuse on why he lost...That's fine...I expect Dawson to do the same thing regardless if his body is fine or not ala Cotto.

Dawson said he'd go to 168 to fight him which is an actual weight division limit. Pacquiao asked Cotto for an actual catchweight (145lbs). With that being said, the catchweight wasn't why Cotto lost. Had Cotto been able to weigh up to 147lbs that night I still believe he loses. He didn't have the best game plan or corner going into that type of fight.

Where was Foreman when that farce that happen?

It was either Foreman or Clottey not Foreman or Margarito.

At 140,yes....at 147 he was not. When did he defend that 140 strap? In fact, why didn't he? Just as his fight at JMW-he had not stepped foot in the division, but was given a gift to fight another undeserving guy for a vacant strap....no wonder boxing is a joke-and a lot of the joke is coming from Top Rank's side!

He is also a decent boxer with reach that for some reason TR's matchmaker Goodman didn't think Manny would do well against.

I just thought the too tall reference made no sense. It never was about height.

at 147...the FULL WW limit...thats all!!...just like Floyd's test crusade was SUPPOSED to be a mental tactic used against Manny, the same can be said for the dude who dictates which weight the other dude can come in at...especially when its BELOW the limit....so 147 would've been proper

This thread is about the double standards some posters use.

It is clear that some posters let their personal feelings cloud their objectivity.

Oh and FWIW, the the "too tall" was taken out of context.

If catchweights are necessary, forget about the belt. It is totally relevant that the first thing asked for was a catchweight... by the challenger in Pacquiao/Cotto case. The fact that 145lbs was agreed doesn't make it any more valid.

If Ward was fighting for Dawson's title, it would be the same. Dawson threw down the challenge and offered the conditions, like DLH did. It's on him like it was on Oscar.

Didn't Pacquiao weighed in at 147lbs on the dot against Oscar? He's usually come in heavier than most opponents until recently on fight night, that's for sure.
