It was either Foreman or Clottey not Foreman or Margarito.
Apparently we are talking different things. I'm talking Foreman for the jr middleweight strap & it seems you're talking Clottey for Pacman's strap. If so, I guess we're having a worthless debate.

No. He should have fought him at 147.

I just thought the too tall reference made no sense. It never was about height.
        TR matchmaker is Bruce Trampler.

The Foreman fight was never serious...It was a way to get Foreman name connected with a star. So he could get a rub off of him. TR had been pushing Foreman, hell TR was probably rooting for Foreman to beat Cotto...they were trying to make Foreman a star.

But, lets act like Pac wouldn't have gotten criticism for making the fight..Like if Pac would have gotten any credit.

Thats what usually happens when someone asks why not have manny take on a legitimate champion to win a title rather than manufacture a title fight.

The thing is-Cotto would not go down at all these days and Manny still wanted him at WW for his belt, but Floyd got to fight him at 154-the honorable thing to do!

People do a lot of things for money,it doesn't mean that they will be at their 100% best on the night of the fight.A few pounds makes a major difference in fights-there are a lot of reasons, but that's another story.

Do you think Cotto is going to say he will struggle to make weight before or during the pressers???!!! Hell no-they are trying to sell the fight as a competitive fight with a high risk-not a weight drained and outclassed opponent-that is hard to hype up.

True champs get stripped all the time and paper titles handed out, happens all the time.

But as contests, and whether Marg or Cotto we healthy and strong at the weight, there is no argument they were.

It seems like you're making up a timeline.

Foreman didn't have that "strap" for too long. He didn't -I repeat- did NOT have 1, not 1, successful title defense.

So there was only a small window of time to make such fight....The Clottey fight at 147 was more credible than a Foreman fight at any weight...

When that BS farce of a garbage Marg fight happen, Foreman was pretty much done with boxing. He had that one thing with Wolak and never seen again.

You're right. But the weight is the biggest factor, for those that care to keep it real. Cotto did weight 146 vs Clottey. But he was training down to 147 & just happened to be 1 lb under. That is no where near the same as training down to 145 & not being able to weight an ounce over. Not at all.

I believe you are mistaken. Brad Goodman is TR's matchmaker.

WHo gives who credit has nothing to do with this. People who do and don't give credit are part of the problems on this board.

The bottom line is the "too tall" comment is just like the "scared of needles" crap, ridiculous excuses made from manny and his team when they choose to fight another come forward non moving opponent rather than a boxer with movement, even if in the case of Forman he isn't that good a fighter.

Which is why I've said twice now that "you can't knock Pac for taking that fight though". Still doesn't mean I have to like that Pac fought Oscar completely drained, whether or not it was Oscar's fault. Same thing applies here. Dawson said he'd go to 168, not Ward's fault. Still don't have to like that it's happening at 168, but you can't knock Ward.
