Joe Calzaghes resume is weak. Only 5 of his 21 defenses are against top-10 super-middleweights. I see Calzaghe like an Ottke or Dariusz M. He has a padded record with a lot to hide. He had a good work rate but as a boxing purist his style was just horrible. Ward beats him and Direll would be a nightmare for him. To answer the wuestion: yes, Froch > Calzaghe

Win, lose or draw Froch's last 10 fights surpasses Calzaghe 46-fight career. Sad but true.

Calzaghe's record might not be as strong but he did beat Kessler and managed to outhustle Bernard Hopkins. Froch failed to capture wins over Kessler and what many consider a younger, fresher version of Hopkins in Andre Ward.

I believe Froch needs a decisive win over Kessler to arguably put himself over Calzaghe. Right now it appears that in a head-to-head contest between the two, Calzaghe would likely take the win.

As far as achievements go, they are about even. Some of Froch's best wins over Abraham, Bute and Dirrell (not a clear win) were over unproven commodities at top super middleweight level. Jermain Taylor as we know has not shown much ever since his losses to Pavlik. Abraham is nearly going the Jeff Lacy route nowadays.

This is not to pick apart Froch's record which is impressive, but rather to make the point that he is one big win away from becoming one of Britain's best in recent times. I think even Froch recognizes that he needs to avenge atleast one of his losses.

            i think its close...

calzaghe beat the bigger names (although suspect timing)... retired undefeated and had a long title reign... but never had the balls to come over to the states until said big names were faded. IMO, undefeated kessler was his best victory. kessler was a beast at the time.

froch, on the other hand, survived the super six... had numerous victories over solid competition back to back... and usually delivered action. he fought alot of dudes in their prime. although limited, froch always surprised and did better than expected. he EARNED his respect.

at this point, its pretty close, but im sure froch will continue to hustle and most likely surpass calzaghe.

46-0, WBC, WBO, IBF, WBA SMW champion of the world, 20 title defenses, Ring LHW champion........status upon retirement

Froch: 29-2, IBF champ, lost to an older version of the guy that Calzaghe beat years earlier when he was undefeated.

I dont think its possible for Froch to surpass him. He would have to avenge Ward and defend an undisputed title a couple of times just to pull even with Joe.

He beat a PRIME Hopkins IMO.

Hopkins went on to snag two of his greatest career wins after that loss beating Pavlik and Pascal.

Hopkins was at his best when he was king of the middleweight divison, Calzaghe waited until Hopkins and Jones were past their primes to fight them.

Carl Froch enters the Super six tournament and fights the best one after another and then fights unbeaten Lucian Bute who everyone thought would beat him.

                    War Froch !!
