he's one of the great post-war british boxers. he should be at least in contention for a spot imo.

part of the HOF is the eye test. just like art, ****, violence, you know it when you see it when you've been watching boxing for a while.
i dont think froch is a hall of fame fighter and that it would be a huge detriment to the class of the hall.

cotto's a better fighter than carl froch, man. he was one of the best p4p fighters in the world before he got trashed by margarito

i know the answer to the question obviously

        but who did he beat?

i've gone through it further back in the thread

his two best wins are jermain taylor and lucian bute.

Possibly. There's certainly guys who have gotten in with less. As of right now, here's what Froch has.

          29-2 (21 KO's)
          3x Super Middleweight Champ

Wins over Brian Magee, Jean Pascal (Top 10 SMW), Jermain Taylor (Top 10 SMW), Andre Dirrell (Top 10 SMW), Arthur Abraham (Top 10 SMW), Glen Johnson (Top 10 SMW), and Lucian Bute (IBF SMW champ/#1 SMW).

After the Ward fight and prior to the Bute fight, he reminded me a bit of Ricky Hatton. Solid wins over some good and decent fighters, but failed in his two biggest fights. But, Froch just got a really big win that definitely boosted his resume, something Hatton didn't do after he lost to Pacquiao (Hatton could still get in though with his solid wins and Tszyu win).

If Froch avenges his Kessler loss in good fashion, than I think he will get in at some point.

Froch put up a great performance tonight.

But if hes a hof is Eubank? Is Benn? Ward has to be. As I said before the 168 tourney has overrated its participants. Jist because we got a bunch of guys in a tourney and a couple stood out doesn't mean they are hall of famers.
Because Ward has Kessler, Froch and Abraham.

And Froch has Taylor, Dirrell, Bute, Abraham, Pascal and Johnson.

Froch clearly has the depth, as it stands.

Ward will take him over most likely, eventually.

Ward has a lot more to come, Froch doesn't have as much left in the tank.

Cotto has still won titles in 3 weight classes, and was P4P for a period of time. Mosley could still fight when Cotto beat him, and was a highly ranked WW.

                37-3 (30 KO's)
4 titles in 3 weight classes.

Wins over Carlos Maussa, DeMarcus Corley (Top 10 JWW), Ricardo Torres, Paulie Malignaggi, Carlos Quintana (Top 10 WW), Oktay Urkal (Top 10 WW), Zab Judah (Top 10 WW), Shane Mosley (#3 WW), Joshua Clottey (Top 10 WW), Yuri Foreman (WBA SWW champ/Top 10 WW), and Antonio Margarito.

I think the 3 weight classes thing helps Cotto to get in. But Froch should get in especially if he avenged his Kessler loss.

How many fighters in the last 20+ years have fought Top ranked opponents for 5 years straight, back to back, and winning all but 2 of them?

3 of those wins being the clear underdog?

                  No one springs to mind.

I actually can't think of anyone else in History you can say that about.
