I'm admiring Larry at this point. He has NSB in a hostile mood with these threads, it's entertaining. I can't wait to see how this one ends up kicking off.
Better resume Jmm or Cotto

ThisI love all the names that people have brought up for Cotto, but not mentioned any of the others for Marquez.
Either way, Manuel Medina is greater than Katsidis and Juarez by a mile and better than just about anyone on Cotto's resume not named Mosley. He's a 6 time champ and FW great. What about Smoke Gainer?
Orlando Salido?
Julio Gervacio?
Robbie Peden?
Alfred Kotey?
Agapito Sanchez?
All of these guys were/are top champs.
Even Polo, who was twice majorly robbed of title wins, is better than Katsidis (as much as I love him).
Anyway, it's Marquez for me.
Casamayor
Diaz
Barrera
Pacquiao
Gainer
Medina
Salido
Sanchez
Peden
Kotey
etc
etc
There are champions in that list (and more champs that weren't listed) that go from 1990 to current champs right now and Marquez has beaten all of them. Yes, all of them. That's a 22 year span of champions beaten.
They also range from champions at Bantamweight all the way to Jr middleweight champions. Well, I'm not sure I can say JMW with any seriousness, but...
That's champions across 22 years and through bantamweight, superbantamweight, featherweight, superfeatherweight, lightweight, Jr welterweight, welterweight and a fake JMW.
Marquez has the better resume
not that cotto doesnt have a great resume himselfComment

Juan Manuel lost 2 fights to Chris John and some guy named Freddie Norwood. He had 3 very close fights with Pacquiao and he deserves credit for those fights but what else has he done? He got totally outclassed by Mayweather. Outsized or not, did he even land more than 1 clean shot on Floyd? Then look at his other notable wins; Katsidis, Diaz, Casamayor - what did these guys achieve after fighting Marquez? Sure, he unified against Salido but Cotto technically unified at welter against Clottey. That was a close fight, too. But let's not forget that Clottey was forced to vacate by the IBF because it took slightly longer for them to sign the contract and the belt had to go.
Look at Cotto's resume. I don't think people realise how strong his CV really is. He has several boxers who he beat who have come back to win championships. Carlos Quintana was undefeated and came back to beat Paul Williams. Shane Mosley became the man at welter after losing to Cotto. Judah, Malignaggi, N'dou, Torres etc all came back to reclaim championships. If it's so easy why didn't Juan Manuel's opponents do the same?
Because Cotto fought the better guys.Comment

It's a close call because of the Pac fights and no other reason. Don't get me wrong, I thought Juan Manuel won but there's not much more to go off. He was totally dominated by Mayweather and also lost to Chris John and Norwood. Cotto's losses have been competitive.Comment
