And it's not just Floyd. Manny is off the charts as well. If they ever fight, it will be the first time two guys with this level of consistent million buy track records have ever fought. Holyfield had only done it twice before Mike, and that includes all the Bowe fights (none of which hit that level).

It's also part of why they might not ever fight. enjoy this...we may never see two cash cows in the PPV era share the stage like this again.
    Wrong.

If the HW's had a Prime Bowe and a Prime Holyfield in this era with the K2.... there will not be a floyd..

Floyd will be doing like 400k if the HW division was relevant

Stop acting like Floyd is a bigger star then Tyson Holyfield Oscar because he is doing more PPV in this era. People already explained why it's easier to have high PPV numbers now.

Once again. If there was a prime tyson prime holyfield and prime bowe in today's HW Era ...BOTH floyd and manny will be relegated to the ****ing Junior Varisty squad

and Larryx's sig will be like a Evander Holyfield flexing his steriod muscles instead of Floyd

When you are only 1 of maybe 3-4 legitimiate stars in boxing it's easy to look good in PPV when there's literally nothing else.

Say in the 90's you dont wanna buy a Oscar Fight not when a lewis-holyfield showdown is coming up etc.

You don't wanna buy a Tito fight because a Oscar Mosley showdown is coming up and that's more attractive to you

Now it's like If you dont buy a cotto Floyd fight, what else is there?

YOU GONNA GO ****ING WATCH MIKKEL KESSLER VS GREEN BRAH?
(that btw will be a good fight )
Floyd's Q rating is off the charts. He's everywhere on the newstand: fitness, boxing and mainstream sports mags. he was set for a Rolling stone cover but got bumped for the President. Still a massive article. He (and manny) have been in Time Magazine repeatedly. Huge spreads in top 50 newspapers. Constant source of discussion on sports radio and TV talk shows.

No one beats the NFL. He could probably pop a World Series # against a real foe on free TV.

Ok thanks for explaining that for me. I never thought of that and it is a very good point. Having the black boxes definitely makes the fights easier to buy. There is still a huge difference in the price of the ppv today from back then, how is that explained though? PPVs are about 25 dollars more now.

I know Manny does huge numbers and I expect him to come close to Tyson and Holyfield but I didn't bring him up because the thread wasn't about him.

If Oscar really made Floyd and Pacquiao PPV attractions, then how come Bernard Hopkins is not a PPV attraction? What about Shane Mosley?

No one was a bigger star than Tyson but Holyfield needed dance partners. A lot of his shows did poor #'s. Chavez did insane numbers with the same guys around and he couldn't speak English. Floyd would be a megastar in any era with his talent and talk. And he'd be bigger than Oscar because he'd have beaten him and pissed people off doing it.

he's so big relative to his era it's insane. He did more buys than the average free HBO show does live in the ratings last week.

He did make Floyd. Stop using those ****s as examples bro.

Both of those fights were early 2000's.

Not in this era of PPV Marketing

I can shoot this right back at you

IF FLOYD WAS THE REAL PPV KING

HOW COME VICTOR ORTIZ AINT GETTING NO SHINE HE FOUGHT FLOYD

Well, Hopkins became a fairly consistent 300-500K guy. Mosley just was terribly promoted and got beat before he could get back to PPV but was always a solid B side for bigger draws.

Pac and Floyd are particularly special fighters and they each charisma and an extra element to have something that draws the masses (Pac is an adrenaline rush when he's on; Mayweather is Roddy Piper boxing style).

EXACTLY why hasn't any of Oscar's other opponents became the stars Floyd and Manny have become?

That is because Floyd and Manny are superstars in there own right.
