Let me ask you this - if you're in a fight and your fighting a guy who is younger, faster, stronger and has the ability to knock you out, would you hold him when you could? would you try to slow him down? or would you just stand there like an idiot and get ko'd?

    That's what I thought.

It's easy for you guys to sit on your couch and say "oh hopkins is a b!tch he holds he does this he does that" we'll, it's not you in the ring now is it?

I would decide to retire with some dignity intact. No one is forcing Hopkins to fight in his old age. The man can't fight for 12 rounds without fouling and flopping. To top things off he can't even give Dawson his props after Dawson had already given him his. Fouling, flopping and bad sportsmanship... what's to like?

Another thing, for the people who claim he's some bad person outside the ring, maybe you should read this story. http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news?slug=ki-negler110208

Lmap at these guys with B-hop in their avatar not saying anything negative about what Hopkins did tonight. I can't respect a guy who fights like that no matter his age.

you didn't answer the question at all. hopkins went into the fight thinking he could win, if he didn't think he could compete any more he would retire.

and when hopkins is elected into the hall of fame and considered an all time great he'll be standing tall with more dignity and pride than anyone on this board so don't bring up dignity. what have u accomplished? exactly.

Perhaps if he can't fight without holding every 5 seconds and fouling with the occasional fall to the ground he should consider retiring.

when did I say he shouldn't retire? missing the point entirely. this thread was to give hopkins props for hanging in their and his entire career. who cares if he had a bad fight in what could be his last fight? Ali, Leonard, all the greats lose at the end when their old.

I understand this must be an emotional time for you being a bhop hugger and all. So I'll leave you to get to your mourning for your beloved cheat.

He get's props for his great career.

Not sure what he deserves props for tonight, though.

Except being 47 and still being good. But we knew that before the fight.

He was awful tonight from the holding, to the headbutt's, to the falling to the ground, all the way to considering a Kermit Cintron jumping out the ring part 2.

now your going to criticize him on something he didn't even do too? their feet got tangled, hopkins went towards the ropes and that was it, he even waived at the crowd after.

man, i'm not saying this was his best fight obviously not since he lost, but he did give chad a tough fight. yes he made it ugly but that's what he was supposed to do. jesus give the man some respect he did what he could
