who wants floyd to move up to mw?if floyd could move up to mw and fight for the mw title that would be great for him but i don't see where anyone says floyd has to move up to mw floyd fighting sergio at 154 would be fine i bet you can find much more threads about people like you wanting sergio to move up to smw than you will find of people wanting floyd to move up to mw
I don't even care for the fight unless its at MW......him winning the MW title means more than just simply defeating Martinez @154lbs.

Everyone will just say he made Sergio come down and he drained him and didn't beat the MW champ at MW...

He didn't have to move up.

He was 5' 9". Look at Arthur Abraham he's 5'10" and is too short to be competitive at 168.

Hagler's style would not have done him any good at 168 or 175 whatever.

Didn't he end up being an ATG, and a one of the best MW's of all time anyways? So I don't know why people would complain about him.

Anyways, for Macklin Sergio weighed 157 on the scales. That's 3lbs less than the MW limit. He has no business in 168.

Well that's because the 168 was fairly none existent during most of Hagler reign.

The WBA crowned their first SMW champion in 1987 the year that Hagler retired. The WBC crowned their first SMW champion in 1988, with the SRL-Lalonde sham, Hagler was already gone by then.

If the 168 division had the respect back then as it does now...Who knows, maybe he would have moved up, maybe he wouldn't.

I don't think using Hagler was the right guy to make the point you're trying to make.

did sergio start his career at smw?is sergio now fighting at smw?
My post has literally nothing to do with Sergio Martinez. Let alone comparing the size of Bernard Hopkins and Sergio Martinez.

Yea to fight LHW's...The TS is not asking Martinez to fight at LHW. The TS is asking why "NOT" fight SMW's, even at a catch-weight at that.

I rather see the fight at 160 myself because of what's in it for Floyd, who's one of my favorite fighters. I'd love to witness him get his title in his 6th weight class, especially being The Ring title, which would add a 3rd Ring Title plus his 130 Lineal title, that would be a big feat for a former Super Featherweight.

But the fight it self would be okay anywhere from 154 to 160 honestly. They could do a CW of 155-157 for Sergio's Ring title and no one can say anything bad about that cause first of all Sergio is offering himself up at 150, and second of all every one is saying Floyd wouldn't fight Sergio. So even if the fight is a CW between 155+, Floyd would still be doing two things to shut his critics up which would be fighting Sergio and fighting him above 154.
