Can people remember when Sergio Martinez knocked out Paul Williams and people were saying ''What a classy guy'' because he turned down the prospect of a fight with Manny Pacquiao because, apparently, he had a sense of sportsmanship and believed the guy was too small? Deemed as the people's champ, taking on all challengers and what not.

Now he is doing the complete opposite. I agree that Ward is probably too big for him but if he wants to cement his legacy, if he wants to earn a pay check it is a risk he should take.

Now what makes me is laugh is that Martinez is not willing to take that risk for his legacy and a pay day yet he expects Mayweather and Pacquiao to take the same risk for what exactly?

He can make 154 Im sure, but not without some serious dieting. . .

LOL @ Lou comparing him to ROy Jones in his prime, or Mayweather. . Yeaahh, since they really struggled in DEAD EVEN fights with guys like Macklin, and Barker. . .
Common, Roy Jones Jr in his prime. Going up one lil weght class should be no problem then. Roy fought a heavyweight that outweighed him by 40 lbs on fight night. I'll give Sergio his props, I like him and I dont think he should have to go up to 168 to prove anything, but dont compare him to Roy Jones Lou, and if you do he should have no problem going to cruiser weight eventually.

And all of the things you say about his reasoning for fighting Dzinzurick at middle weight helps to prove my point that Martinez prefers to fight as a middle weight over jr. middle weight.
If you think Martinez is the same size as Hopkins, Taylor or Pavlik, you're simply delusional. If i meant height, I would have said height.

Of course he would prefer to cut less weight but that doesnt mean he couldnt comfortably make 154 if the right fight came along. He weighs in at 157. Why would he move down to fight Dzinzurik? What would be the actual point of that?

What does that have to do with my response? You just compared a fight with Ward/Bute to a fight with Oscar in terms of superfights

            Try again.

Martinez just wants to get paid. Fighting Bute in Canada would do that.

Dibella needs to bite his tongue, cuz he's not helping the situation AT ALL.

A promoter lying in the best interest of his fighter? No way guys!

                    Promoter gonna promote

Watch out guys, Lou and his croneys read their forums. I just wish BPP releases the emails that he gets from him complaining about forum posts. Must be excellent trolling material.

Well unfortunately for Sergio the big fights don't come with built in price tags. How much money does the guy need lmao
