Also Mayweathers deal with HBO> Roys

Roy Jones Jr. versus the IRS

Let's get the obvious out of the way: Y'all musta forgot to pay your taxes.

Jones (54-7, 40 KO) reportedly owes the IRS $3.5 million, which might help to explain why he recently and somewhat suddenly signed up for a very risky fight in Russia against Denis Lebedev in May. Jones had a rough 2010 in the ring from a financial standpoint, as he made almost no money whatsoever from his April fight with Bernard Hopkins, and a later date with Danny Santiago, which he admitted wasn't going to make much, was called off.

At 42, Jones has limited in-ring earning power left, but he also returned full-time to the HBO boxing team this year, which should help soften the blows over time. The fight with Lebedev should get him a decent chunk of change, too, a nice cash injection
    .

It's obvious Roy isn't going to be making the same money he made in his prime. If Floyd fights when he is 40, do you think he will be earning millions and doing big ppv numbers.

Now, lets get one thing straight......Floyd has higher career earnings than Roy. I'm not here to even debate this. However, Roy is pretty well off, regardless of his tax issues, which Floyd and Manny also have themselves.

Floyd has gotten his cars repo and owed the IRS a ton of money....however that doesn't mean he isn't caked up. Same **** with Roy.

My whole point is this; Roy has money (not as much as Floyd) so why would he hate on another fighter getting paid? To me that doesn't make much sense at all.

Also, prior to the Hopkins and Toney fights, Roy was criticized for his opponent selections.

This isn't hating on my part.....just stating facts.

I'm not saying Roy gets beaten, but the chances of him getting KO'd, if he faced the biggers punchers at those divisions, definatley goes up.

roy was knocked down by lou del valle. jones said it was a slip, it might have been a slip, kind of looked like a slip, but a punch did land.

A lot of the amateurs Jones jr fought at 18 were better than most the set ups Manny Pacquaio was fighting at 18.

Do I really have to explain to you the differences between the pro game and the amateurs?

And it was much more to do with Pacquiao being so severely weight drained.

I'm not sure if I follow but

Floyd, Oscar, Arum and Leonard are all on a plane (i've heard of this incident btw) and Floyd thinks Leonard is fake.

Why would Leonard in turn be biased towards Floyd because of this?

Not trying to flame, but I'm trying to understand where your coming from with this.

just because that happened doesn't mean Roy is broke and in need of money.....just like him having tax issues and not making money at 40 indicate he is broke.

I never stated Roy has more money than Floyd, rather Roy is well off and is set for life. Why would he be jealous of Floyd?

Lebron and Kobe have never made the money Jordan has, but that doesn't mean they aren't well off.

stylewise i think rj says some valid things but i think fmj defensively, would be doing more ducking and slipping than shoulder rolling to counter roy, more like montell griffin did...and when it comes to intangibles fmj would give him more problems than manny pac would...but in the end, i think the fact that even in a p4p matchup, rj would have a natural height and reach advantage that would give both of them problems, plus i don't think fmj or manny have ever dealt with the type of power and accuracy jones had in his prime...
