    +1

It's amazing they are even comparing the two. One guy is the most skilled boxer to surface in the last 15 or 20 years. Roy Jones was not coming close to Floyd's skill level. Not even to start going into the intelligence factor between the two. Not only is Floyd very skilled, but his boxing IQ is very, very high, along with being one of the great defensive specialists. Roy and Floyd cannot be compared.

well seeing as though Roy still believes he can fight, when the fans seen the writing on the walls years ago..id say RJJ isnt a realist when hes discussing his fights..this coming from a RJJ fan who wants him to retire already..

Roy a clown for saying this. Its a lot of 168 fighters out there he could have talk about
Meh, Roy fought at 154. Both Floyd and Pac have "won titles at JMW." Floyd next fight is at 154.

Not sure why Roy is a clown is this. Since he said a young Roy Jones. And, a young Roy Jones fought at 154.

when anyone says that roy jones haas great fundamentals but floyd doesn't, they should be taken to the wood shed and left there. Kill yourself and stop watching boxing....please

Both of yall mothereffer's shut up I was being sarcastic the whole post is sarcasm read it again

Roy Jones always had a great jab and constantly went to the body i'm not talking about a big shot here and there to the body but always went to the body to set up his shots . Roy had great defense too.

Mayweather cant deal with fighters who have fast hands, and who have a jab like Roy had and who had defense like Roy had. Mayweather has lead feet too he would just stand there and Roy would tee off on him. Roy's defense was so great counter puncher's wouldn't be able to touch him.

Roy was a cerebral fighter like marquez

          James Toney wasn't weight drained

Roy wasn't hating on Mayweather in an interview

A fighter like Mayweather can't deal with speed and cant make adjustments has no defense and can fight only one style.

Mayweather just relies on his speed his fundamentals are horrible.

Roy always had great boxing fundamentals
Wow... I'm pretty sure Floyd made a complete adjustments to Zabs speed and countering ability in that fight.

Just stop..Roy? Boxing Fundamentals? That's why he's still going strong right? Because he's slowed down and his fundementals are still in tact... tell me you were being sarcastic please?

Roy lacked EVERY boxing fundamental and relied on nothign but his athleticism.. hence the reason the moment he slowed down even a fraction of a second, he became obsolete. He had no actual boxing fundamentals to fall back on to preserve his career.

I can't believe what I just had. Roy? Jab? Wow.. really? LOL! Roy, defense? REALLY?! Roy had no defense. His only defense was a damn rope a dope. I can't believe I'm even responding to such idiocy. It's like you've never watched boxing before.

Out of curiosity what did he do in the 2nd fight?

            Did that count as toying.

And, FWIW Griffin wasn't bad. Undersized? Yes. Bad fighter? No. Awkward fighter? For sure.

Second fight means what exactly? Am I supposed to act like Paul Williams never lost to Carlos Quintana too? Fact remains he had 10 rounds to do that in the first fight and he couldn't. He lacked the ability to adjust then and there, and he couldn't handle Griffins ability to counter.. and i'm supposed to believe he'd handle floyds if they were the same size?

                No

Like I said Roy is a career what? Floyd/Pac are career what. By time he was 25 he was super middleweight. Its really no comparison, at ALL

this made me laugh..man I love RJJ..but on the real..he toys with Pac..I think in RJJs prime he was too quick to be hit..but dont forget Floyd at 130..Roy was gifted, but Floyd is more skilled..smarter..and thats a tough fight..

You responded to my original post, which didn't quote anyone, so you were clearly upset with what I said so how you arrive at me being mad is nonsense.

I read the article and posted the direct quotes from Roy. Yet you say I'm using my own words.

"The young Roy Jones, Jr. would probably beat Floyd Mayweather, Jr., because basically Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and James Toney fight with the same style."
when you come back and start talking about Manny Pacquiao, ….. "You got to survive his power first, then you deal with him. That's still yet to be seen. Of course with my size I'll beat him (Pacquio).

                    • pacquiao is a southpaw with speed and power, he's a natural problem for anybody. however, while mayweather and toney may have similar styles, their differences in ring IQ and the athleticism that they employ with that style should also be factored. floyd has slowed down over the years now, he's more stationary and defensive oriented than he once was so i can totally understand roy's speculation here. i still think a younger floyd would give RJ a run for his money though.
