This. . . Cotto @ 154 isn't the fighter he is @ 147. . . The only reason Cotto moved to 154 was for: 1.) promotional reasons - fighters will change weightclasses and get new trainers after losses. 2.) He doesn't have to diet while training, or dry out any to make weight (95% of boxers diet and dehydrate before a weigh-in). . .

A slower and fatter Cotto is easier for FLoyd to potshot and tenderize.

Cotto is no different now than he was back at JWW or WW (when he wasn't pushing for a fight with Mayweather).

Bottom line, he's still a good fighter and according to Roach he was too much for Pac at JMW.

Clearly its an advantage for floyd, but cotto will benefit from them aswell. Hard shots are gonna be thrown from both fighters. Hopefully floyd lets cotto choose the gloves of his liking, probably reyes at 8oz. I doubt it tho.

That isn't true. The smaller gloves benefit the faster fighter too. Why do you think Pacquiao wanted 8 oz gloves for Margarito? The smaller gloves make Cotto more vunerable to cuts and swelling which is already a problem for him. And let's not pretend Cotto has been a devastating puncher at 47 or 54.


Mayweather made it clear he doesn't like the bigger gloves all the way back to the Delahoya fight.I don't know why this seems to be surprising to some.
