last night is a blip that won't affect the sports fanbase in any significant or longterm way whatsoever. There are much bigger problems such as corrupt promoters, dodgy decisions and half a million sanctioning bodies to p1ss off fans.Comment

Boxing is a dirty sport to the mainstream media and this is common knowledge.
Two boxers, who's job it is to inflict damage on his opponent, scrapping at a press conference isn't going to do any more damage than the numerous in-ring deaths and level of corruption and mob association have already done to boxing.
It's got them talking, and if they can agree to a fight, this fight will be a far,far bigger sell now than what it would have been just two or three days ago.
This isn't much different to Mark Kaylor and Errol Christie fighting prior to their fight, and that certainly didn't do anything to deter the marketability of the fight.Comment

The vast majority of the public couldn't give a rip about sports though. Even the Super Bowl, easily the biggest sports event in the US is watched by only a fraction of US viewers. Sports shouldn't be trying to kow- tow to people who are at best indifferent to it and worst hostile. The NFL has been listening to those kinds of people and it's gotten to the point where the NFL has become flag-football and generally unwatchable. Quite frankly sports needs to cater to their fans and not public at large who aren't going to watch anyway.
