Is what happened bad for boxing?

How about the people actually involved with the sport who are frowning upon this, are we not counting them because their opinion differs from your own? And you haven't answered my question, how many people have come out to say "this was good for boxing"?Comment

Outstanding.Just been reading a few blogs on the sport sections of other sites, and I keep hearing how what happened is a disgrace to boxing.
I truly love this sport and it hurts when people **** on it. But honestly, I don't feel bad about what happened at all. And I don't think it's bad for boxing. In fact, I find the moral indignation of it all kinda ****** and silly.
This is boxing, it's a rough sport, it's a war, ****'s gonna happen. I'm glad most people on this site have seen the incident for what it really is - foolish but ultimately incredibly entertaining.
I don't condone what happened. But I don't condemn it either. It is what it is. We'll get over it once the next good fight comes around.
I like the fact the true fans of the sport know that **** like this can go down and aren't arguing about the moral implications of it all (like that whole ******ed Evra/Suarez handshake issue. Dear me, a ****ing (non) handshake inspired so much outcry).
Now THAT was a boxing post.Comment

I dont understand why just because boxers fight inside the ring, its ok to fight outside the ring in a professional enviroment.
Just because a guys are profession marksmen, its ok if they just shoot people?Comment

The Klits are classy, but that has nothing to do with this thread. Unfortunately positives will always be overshadowed by negatives in this type of situation. As far as the rest of your post....you're only looking at the small picture. And by the way my friend, you STILL haven't answered my question.Comment

I think your post really captures the essence of what I feel as well. It's like the scene from "Apocalypse Now" where Colonel Kurtz is explaining the absurdity of having to remove profanity from bombs soldiers were going to drop. The idea that one can kill or brutally injure someone and that it should be muted with etiquette is ridiculous. Similarly, the absurdity of thinking a sport, no matter how refined, should somehow contain the violence that's at the very root of it is insane.that is why nobody gives a **** about the Heavyweight Division...everybody wants to be "CLASSY" this is ***ing boxing not a damn "Gentleman's Sport"
Pu$$y Sensitive Fans are killing me with this "CLASS" "CLASSY" BULL****
I don't agree with Slapping people when they are not expecting it and spitting in someones face and of course Klitchko Fan are going to be Sensitive about that and they are going to hate Chisora forever, but the Heavyweight Division needed some Controversy, the Division is DEAD AND BORING!
Boxing is a sport of violence through and through, that's what draws us in, because we can vicariously experience the thrill of savagery without having to shed whatever suburban lifestyle we've chosen to hide in.
Brutality and aggression are welcome companions in the boxing world.Comment
