It comes with the territory. When you're that much better than everyone else, you're held to a different standard. Floyd's been going through it his entire career, Manny's just beginning to be graded by that same rubric.
Example, does anyone go out of their way to give credit to Floyd, or even mention, that he was fighting middleweights (by your definition of fight night weights) in the Baldo, DLH and Ortiz fights? Hell, if you want to look at it that way, Floyd was fighting super lightweights and welterweights when he was at 130-135.
It's pretty simple- when people think you're the best they set extremely high standards, fair or not. The criticism of Pac hasn't been nearly as concentrated as it's been for Floyd, especially when you consider he's used catchweights to give himself advantages. If you want to say catchweights are to level the playing field that's cool, but then explain fighting Cotto at 145 but Clottey and Mosley at 147?Comment

You make a pretty good point. Is it me or does this seem to be the case? The haters either want him to drop a weight class to face someone, or jump 1 or 2 weight classes to face the top dog there. When talks of Pac vs JMM III were going on, the haters were claiming that Pac is trying to fight a bloated LW by having the fight at a 144 CW and it should take place at 140. The fight took place, JMM looked great, and all the CW talk went out the window.
Next Sergio Martinez went on a tirade of call outs and challenged both Pac and Floyd even after Sergio was quoted as saying that "Pacquiao was too small". Pac said Sergio would have to come down in weight to face him but once again the haters claim that Pac should move up to 154 and face Martinez. So let me understand this.......They wanted Pac to move down to 140 to face JMM for their 3rd bout because they claim he can easily make 140 but then turn around and criticize him for not wanting to move up to 154 to face the likes of Cotto or Martinez? Talk about holding someone to a higher standard than god himself! LOL. Never mind the fact that @ 154, both Martinez and Cotto would have about a 12-17lb weight advantage against a fighter who has never even weighed in at the WW limit of 147! Funny how nobody talks about that though!
CW's are meant to even the playing field for 2 fighters who generally fight 1 weight class apart. An agreement is made for both of them to meet somewhere in the middle. In the case of Pac though, it seems as if Pac isnt the one doing all the sacrificing, then its considered an unfair bout. Even when he shuts out an opponent (Mosley) 12rnds - 0, somehow he's considered "exposed" by the haters! LOL. Go figure!Comment

Point out where he came down in weight to face a smaller opponent that he had a 17lb advantage on on fight night.Comment
