9 fights or 99 fights doesn't matter you don't need a bunch of fights to tell if a fighter is special or not. You can't hide talent man, no promoter no net work has to be behind that kid rigondeux for somebody to see he's special. I watched him based on skills not a promoter or a network telling me about him and i know with him only having 9 fights judging off of skills he's the best at 122 right now. I don't care what hbo or bob arum say they will say he can't sell out stadiums he's not marketable etc all those excuses but what does that have to do with skills and being the best ? nothing Bob Arum will never let Donaire and Rigondeaux fight with some excuse about him not having a fan base not enough fight's etc etc but bottom line is that kid Rigondeaux would give Nonito the business!!!!!! You know what, the guy was given a chance to show his stuff. He was on the undercard of some big time card, I can't remember who, could have been Pacquiao. And he blew it big time, he back pedalled all night and got his pot shots in, he stank. That was a waste of time for a lot of fans. before i get started on my rant here i'm not trying to take a particular stance but there's a heck of a lot of bull being written by people who have no actual knowledge about what they're writing about.



bit more complex than that, he'd reached the top of the tree in cuba, in amateur boxing. what was he to do- go and win another olympic gold? been there done that. twice.
he saw a lot of these professionals, most of whom couldn't come close to standing with him yet they get the accolades and are considered the best in the world.
he just wanted to go out and claim what was his in terms of honours and sure cash too.
but then of course there's the family issue. pretty big issue it is too. not an easy choice and one i know he hasn't dealt with easily. some of his family have disowned him and he has no contact with them.

they don't do repossessions in cuba, unless something pretty drastic has gone on. during the beginning of the economic crisis i had to explain to cuban friends what having a house repossessed means, most of them didn't believe me that it could be legal.




that guy had screwed up what he got. they don't get a vast amount materially at all though they do fine enough. they do get a lot socially though and in a socialist system which takes precedence? hint- in a capitalist system it's the reverse.

I believe that there was an Asian fighter eho won a title in his 7th fight. Can't recall his name. Also there are several who won titles before their 10th fight.

Alos there was a mention about having to fight whoever Arum picks. It's his duty to make fights with the best attractions-who are not neccesserally the best fighters. This way not only he makes money, but the fighters make more. He's out of business if Top Rank doesn't make money. Just like any other business. There have been cases where fighters, before and after retirement, took court actions against their promoters alleging that they had not been properly matched to make them the most money possible.

I think every fighter in the game wants a title shot and thinks they are the best. You have to have that mentality to succeed in this sport. So why would Rigondeaux call out Donaire since you say boxers should fight the best? Last time I checked, Nishioka is the consensus number one guy in that divison. I havent heard Nishioka's name come out of Rigondeaux's mouth.

Face it, you really dont mean it when you say fighters should fight the best. Cause as of right now, Toshiaki is the most proven JRFW out there and number one ranked guy. Rigondeaux is not looking to fight the best. He is looking to make a name for himself off Donaire.

Maybe he wants Donaire because he is ranked by some as the #3 Lb4Lb. Also because they are both Top Rank fighters with few problems in making the fight. And he's not getting any younger.
