Alos there was a mention about having to fight whoever Arum picks. It's his duty to make fights with the best attractions-who are not neccesserally the best fighters. This way not only he makes money, but the fighters make more. He's out of business if Top Rank doesn't make money. Just like any other business. There have been cases where fighters, before and after retirement, took court actions against their promoters alleging that they had not been properly matched to make them the most money possible.
you think rigondeaux would have any luck taking arum to court?

this is rigo's whole problem- he's got a major imbalance between amazing skills and not so amazing promotability PLUS a rival that has decent skills but great promotability.
now i know amateur boxing has some corruption but at least generally there very little mucking about when it comes to who gets to fight who.
the amount of *****ing about canelo, chavez jr. etc. it's largely justified but just as donaire being able to avoid rigondeaux, it is an inherent part of this game. sad really.

not so good fighters don't bring money for rigondeaux or any kind of motivation- he's beaten loads of guys far better than that- seeing as he left cuba partly for the money and partly for recognition, plus to fight the so-called "best", it would be rather ironic for him fight a lower level of competition and struggle along financially.

He beat a bum in his last fight that quit and had no business being a alphabet champ. The only quality fighter he has been in there with was Cordoba and Im sure that fight put almost everyone to sleep. The worse part was it was on HBO on a Pacquiao under card if Im correct? He blew his chance.
P4P Rigondeaux is one of the most skilled fighters in the sport. Everyone here are just speaking as hardcore fans which is cool but the fact is the sport nowadays does not cater to that group. Rigondeaux should fight 2-3 bigger names like Rafael Marquez, Arce, Darchinyan or Montiel if they choose to move up to give his resume some quality names. After that try to unify with Takalani or Toshiaki then fight Donaire. By then he would already have 12-13 fights which isn't much either but the names make it a big difference to market.
Donaire didn't look great his last performance to me because of a few reasons. First, WV2 got into his head and made things personal so he would go head hunting and look for the KO. Second, he was on HBO and wants to be a household name so he's leaving himself open to counter and look for the KO punch. Nonito himself good fight conservatively because he has the height the reach, the jab and the slickness to be a good at defense but then people will say he is boring.

Righteously/Rightfully/justifiably so.
