9 fights or 99 fights doesn't matter you don't need a bunch of fights to tell if a fighter is special or not. You can't hide talent man, no promoter no net work has to be behind that kid rigondeux for somebody to see he's special. I watched him based on skills not a promoter or a network telling me about him and i know with him only having 9 fights judging off of skills he's the best at 122 right now. I don't care what hbo or bob arum say they will say he can't sell out stadiums he's not marketable etc all those excuses but what does that have to do with skills and being the best ? nothing Bob Arum will never let Donaire and Rigondeaux fight with some excuse about him not having a fan base not enough fight's etc etc but bottom line is that kid Rigondeaux would give Nonito the business!!!!!! Nonito better stay away from that kid lol and i ain't cuban. The eyes don't lie that kid is the truth!!!!

i feel you G, im not direspecting you cuz i dont know you im just talking boxing as a fan and a fighter, and i feel your boy needs a few more fights to build his name. gamboa is one of my favs he won gold also but he fought tough comp before being considered for big money fights. he wasnt asking for the big money fights after 9 fights like rigo, i actually think he had a better resume than rigo after 9 fights. just making a point man thats all. imo gamboa is the best cuban fighting today and i will be in full support of him when he fights riosYou c, you told me that I was out of line, now you did the same thing because you don't know me, my favor fighter is not even Cuban, Duran and Arguello, Hagler and Leonard are high up there too, do I support my Cuban fighters? Of course, but for more than 50+ years we didn't have any Cubans like we have now, Luis Manuel, Fernandez, Paret-RIP-, Napoles, Legra and Ramos were winding down, it was not until the late 90's that we have a few defectors most of them past their prime and not thinking much about seriously fighting, only Hurtado (he has a lot of management problems) Casamayor and Gomez took to the field more or less in full force, now we have like 30 fighters and a least half of them have a good chance of capturing a belt, guys like Franco, Jhonson, Lara, Barthelemy, Ortiz, Barrera, etc.. could be fighting for a belt this year, Hernandez and Rigondeaux already has one and Gamboa is challenging Rios and already is one of the best, the future for Cuban fans and boxers looks bright I just glad that I'm part of it too.Comment

I felt the exact same way. I've gotten to where I dread HBO fights - just because of the commentary crew... primarily Jim Lampley. When they go in to a fight with a clear favorite of theirs in mind, there's no stopping them. They telegraph every play by play that "their" guy does, and talk to each other about every aspect of the guys life - all the while failing to mention the good work the "other" guy is doing. It's BEYOND annoying now -and lately I've been having to watch HBO fights with the sound off. Anybody who is a big sports fan (of whatever sport), knows that the sound is a big part of the hype and entertainment. When you have to take the sound out, it diminishes a lot of the excitement for you.
I wish Jim Lampley would just............ GO AWAY. Seriously.
Nothing more need to be said.Comment

If this was a perfect world the best would fight each other. Unfortunately fighters are matched carefully to a casual audience especially if they are or could potentially be big draws. Our opinions are fantastical and as much as they make sense will normally go unheard by the powers to be financially endowed.9 fights or 99 fights doesn't matter you don't need a bunch of fights to tell if a fighter is special or not.
