Manny Pacman should stay under 147 for the rest of his career..Mayweather vs Martinez at 150 is not a bad thing since this guy Martinez is a big guy that really should be thinking of fighting in 168..

After Mayweather is done with Cotto in May , and Canelo in December now you can make Martinez vs Mayweather at 150 in 2013

At the end of the day, those are the things he said he'd be willing to do. But that's besides the point as that is not the thread's main point. It's simply about the reality that CW's have existed for a long time and have a place in boxing.

Note: This thread was inspired by a fan in Fat Dan's Chat. Also, all Pacquiao and Mayweather huggers please exit this thread now. I know you won't listen, but it was worth a shot. Here we go:

The fact that Mayweather is willing to fight Cotto at 154 but would make Martinez drop to 150 speaks volumes.

Obviously the issue of weight has nothing to do with caring whether or not his opponent is comfortable, but more about he doesn't feel he needs to adjust his weight to win. And if he can overcome a small sticking point and insult Pac at the same time? All the better. If Mayweather/JMM didn't tell you that Mayweather doesn't care about CW's, then I guess you aren't going to get it.

With that said though, it's not just Mayweather. Pac has used catchweights. Cotto attempted to make Margario fight below 154 for their rematch(so for everyone, Cotto included, b*tching about CWs? What a joke.) And throughout boxing history, many, many fighters have used catchweights.

It's all a matter of one fighter having more clout than his opponent, a genuine need for a catchweight between two fighters from different weight classes, or a CW being treated as a bargaining chip in a negotiation. At the end of the day, they exist, they aren't great. BUT they are a part of boxing and there are many guilty parties.
Butt hurt *******z making shyt up again.
Floyd was told Serg offered to fight Manny at 150, and would he consider it. Floyd said "If Serg can make 50, absolutely"...
        Stop making shyt up

A lot of people taking what he said out of context.

When he answered the press' question if he's willing to accept Martinez's 150 offer, Floyd said yes. But at the time, he was still in pursuit of Pac at 147, and May-Martinez agreed they will not fight May 5th.

Now Cotto comes in, says he will not fight under 150. Floyd signs to fight Cotto at 154 because he doesn't believe in catchweights.

If the media asks him if he would fight Sergio at 154+, he'd probably say "Floyd Mayweather doesn't fight in catchweight fights, I don't drain fighters", to take a shot at Manny.

Floyd just wants to outdo Manny in the media. The point of saying yes to Sergio at 150, is to make Manny look bad, who doesn't want Sergio at 150. So if you wanna call Mayweather a p*ssy or whatever name for accepting Martinez's 150 offer, remember at the end of the day he's accepting it, while Manny's not.

That's all there is to it. You think Floyd cares whether it's at 150 or 154? He's gonna have 2 fights at 154 after May 5th. You actually think he's scared? If he doesn't fight Martinez at 154, then he won't fight him at all. Floyd believes in skills over size. How many times has he been the smaller or shorter man, and won? Give him the biggest guarantee available and he'll fight you. If Martinez at 154 makes sense, he'll fight him, if Martinez at 155+ makes sense, that's what he'll go with. If there's bigger purses out there, and fighting Martinez doesn't make sense, he won't fight him at all.

How pathetic is to resort to making up or sensationalizing something to draw criticism to a fighter?

If Floyd asked Sergio for a 150 fight it is evident that Floyd thinks Sergio is too good for him. Why make more of it than it is.

He didn't "ask" for a fight at 150. He was asked if he would fight Martinez at Sergio's offered weight of 150 and he answered, yes.

Either you lack reading comprehension or you just choose to be ******. The real question is why are you making it something that it isn't?
