Mayweather: "I'll only fight Martinez at 150 lbs, I'll fight Cotto at 154."

What's laughable is people being too inept to make the distinction between the two. Martinez called out both guys. Pac's camp's response was a 150 catchweight demand. Martinez's response was he'd fight BOTH guys at 150. When questioned about that claim, Floyd said he could do it at 150. Never was he on record as saying 'I will NOT fight Martinez without a catchweight.' You guys are looking desperate as hell for using Pac's own catchweight demand to downplay Floyd.Comment

im disappointed that mayweather vs pacquiao is not happening anytime soon. i think cotto has only a little chance of winning against mayweather.Comment

But it still doesn't change the fact that the quote in the thread title doesn't exist.
No one's saying that what Mayweather really meant was he is absolutely willing to fight him at 154.
Mayweather was asked about 150 and he said that yes, he will fight him at 150.
The quote does indicate or atleast imply that Mayweather would prefer the fight at 150 as opposed to anywhere else.
But again, the fact is Mayweather has never said that 150 is the be all and end all.
And the quote in the title is completely and utterly fake.
Floyd did not only answer a question. He specified "If Sergio Martinez can make 150" twice.
I remember Pacquaio saying "if he can make 147" but I dont remember anyone saying "well he never said he was only willing to fight at 147".
Its just beyond pedantic. We know what they both meant.Comment

Im not with this whole notion that Floyd was just answering a question and that he didn't explicitly specify 150lbs twice for a reason.Comment

And all you do is stay on my ****. Or on Floyd's. Now Iron's too? LOL. Either way, your ass is always for rent. If you don't have anything to contribute to the topic then get back on that street corner.Comment

I didn't mention the quote in the thread title. Im just cutting to the chase here.
Floyd did not only answer a question. He specified "If Sergio Martinez can make 150" twice.
I remember Pacquaio saying "if he can make 147" but I dont remember anyone saying "well he never said he was only willing to fight at 147".

But the fact is he hasn't denied it, yet.
We all know Floyd can say one thing today and change his mind tommorow.
And I'm not even saying that Floyd will fight him above 150. In all honestly, it wouldn't at all suprise me if he did say in black and white 150 is the limit and that's that.
The main and pretty much only point I'm making here is you simply can't say Floyd said "I will only fight Martinez at 150" when he simply hasn't said it. Whether he implied it or not is irrelevant to the quote.Last edited by IronDanHamza; 02-03-2012, 06:17 PM.Comment
