If Cotto beats Pacquiao does he ranked above Mayweather?

My goodness. Corrales and Castillo ALONE. Especially the fashion in which beat beat Chico. Cotto, as much as I love him, has never beaten an elite fighter like that.
Floyd's WW resume is underrated too. You're just completely dismissing Floyd's career for no apparent reason.Comment

When Jermain Taylor "beat" the #1 pound 4 pound fighter in Hopkins he did not become the #1 pound 4 pound fighter himself, simply the #2 was bumped up (which happened to be floyd at the time).
The same would apply here. (Either floyd remains #1 or is moved up from #2 to #1, depending on how you rank them.)Comment

The Mosley Cotto fought was much tougher.
Judah, Clottey, Quintana, good wins, not great yes, but Floyd does not have great wins on his resume.
You could give him Corrales but never proved he was top fighter IMO. Floyd has good wins but not great.
A win over Pacquiao would clearly put Cotto infront of Mayweather for me.Comment

You can make a case for it
Mayweather's best win(s) is against Chico (RIP) and JLC. Cotto fought a better SSM, did better against common opponents and then he would have a Pacquaio on his ledger. That alone would trump Mayweather's career. He fought Margarito when Margarito was one of the most avoided champs in the division, who Mayweather avoided to fight Baldomir. I do give credit to Floyd for the Ortiz win though, even though it ended just when it got warmed up through and through a suspect move.
Mayweather is probably the better fighter overall, but who cares about who has more skills if the two greatest challenges you were presented, you avoided? (Cotto, 2007/08 and Pacquaio, now).
Flame away, but note, Cotto has not beaten Pacquaio and most likely would not be able to match him again in speed and would be overwhelmed, so the point is moot. So troll lightlyComment

Chico was no elite fighter. Very good, had some great fights with Castillo but that don't make you an elite fighter. You call Chico an elite fighter, who next Judah? My goodness. Corrales and Castillo ALONE. Especially the fashion in which beat beat Chico. Cotto, as much as I love him, has never beaten an elite fighter like that.

Beating the likes of Freitas, Castillo, Manfredy, Casamayor...very tough tasks, that's definitely a top fighter in my opinion. The Mosley Cotto fought was much tougher.
Judah, Clottey, Quintana, good wins, not great yes, but Floyd does not have great wins on his resume.
