ha ha ha. gotta love this post. very true. (unfortunately...)But OMAR NARVAEZ, now that's a known name throughout the sport. All the casual fans know about little Omar, that's why they made a Donaire-Narvaez MEGA-FIGHT at MSG, because Omar is such a huge draw.
Rigondeaux, he's a no name, but Omar Narvaez, he's BIG TIME and that's why Team Donaire and Arum chose to make that fight.
All sarcasm aside, it's really funny how Garcia, Arum, and Nonito say "No one knows who Rigondeaux is", but yet they are coming off fighting OMAR F**KING NARVAEZ, who NO ONE knows outside of hardcore fans.
They just don't want to risk Nonito "I fight smaller guys every 5 seconds" Donaire against someone at 122 that can actually beat him.
Rigo matches him in foot speed and hand speed, is an accurate counter puncher, with great defense.
Mission Avoid Rigondeaux is in full effect, but I saw this coming ever since Rigo-Ramos was announced, and when Nonito was jumping to 122. I just hope Gamboa-Donaire is actually made at least, so Yuri can smash Nonito down.Comment

As much as I would love this fight, I actually feel Rigondeaux should fight others first.
Fight 4 or 5 times this year, to build up his record and his rep. Fight the other belt holders or mandatories. Develop that rep as a KO artist (which he is developing into). He doesn't have a 100% KO record but he can get pretty close. If he develops a "Valero-like" reputation for taking people out, he'd gain a strong fanbase on that rep alone.
His start to the year couldn't be better and can you imagine his foothold on the sport with 4 more KOs by year's end?
It's Donaire's resume that is really the difference between the two fighters. I LOVE Rigondeaux (and would favor him in the match), but he needs to build up that resume before he has the right to these fights.
Let's hope it does happen though.Comment

Good point. I just want it to happen before Rigondeaux (31) starts to lose his speed. In a couple years, who knows what Rigondeaux will be like.As much as I would love this fight, I actually feel Rigondeaux should fight others first.

Yes to this line up. Pretty realistic too, provided Donaire doesn't move up before years end. Then again, Rigondeaux could move up too.Comment

let's be honest he ain't going near gamboa either. mares?- whatever. juanma?- yeah really, whatever. nishioka?- that before rigondeaux does him or after? But your acting like as if he didnt fight Rigo then hes a fraud?
Its not like the remaining list of potential fighters arent just as threatening.
Nishioka (never seen him fight, ill watch some of this vids this week)
maybe Gamboa at 126, prolly not though.
Mares, i dont think hes that good but hey its something.
Juanma? well find out after Salido whats he has left.Comment

you do realise who rigondeaux is don't you?
you think winning gold medals in two consecutive olympic games, and everything else he's won along the way, is not much? you do realise he's a world champion in his 9th pro bout and basically scared his opponent into not throwing a shot in the process right?
jesus.Comment
