Would you favour any Heavyweight in the history of boxing to beat Prime Ali?

Age is not the issue. Some fighters are past their prime in their 20's. Fernando Vargas? Mike Tyson? You can't look at Ali in the 60's and Ali in the 70's and claim he was as good in the 70's with any credibility. Foreman had one of his biggest wins at 45. Hopkins did in his 40's. Ray Robinson at 37.. Big wins do not automatically mean prime.
I'm not going to argue with you anymore about Vitali's losses. They are what they are and anybody can look up the video's and see it for themselves.
Maybe he was better than before, maybe he wasn't, who knows. It's opinion either way. He got knocked down by a bum prior to beating Liston so to imagine Vitali beating him is not a stretch for me.
As far as the Vitali losses go, I agree, let the viewers decide. It's easy to read scorecards anyways.Last edited by Mr. Invincible; 01-13-2012, 09:29 AM.Comment

I don't think so. Wlad might get flustered by Clay, but it would still be a tough assignment for Cassius.
Vitali just straight-out hammers him.Comment

Ok, so based on what Ali went on to do after coming back from the layoff doesn't indicate a fighter past their prime. That's all I'm saying.

Ali being prime would have been of no benefit to him, since what had diminished in him would be nullified by Foreman in any case. There's a reason Ali wanted no part of a rematch with Foreman, he wouldn't have won again.Comment

Being eight years younger,a more youthful, fresher, better conditioned fighter,in addition to possessing a significantly superior level of foot speed would have been of absolute no benefit to him.
The level of idiocy on this board is mind blowing.Comment
