Fighters just don't become popular overnight these days. Ward hasn't even been on PPV yet. Floyd wasn't even on PPV until the Gatti fight and his popularity didn't explode utill the DLH fight.
Why isn't Ward popular in America?

OP is a race bating piece of ****. Why even ask a ****ing question if youre going to call everyone racist for answering you?
Wards style is not that exciting to watch unless you are privy to the ins and outs of the game. I personally enjoy watching him pick people apart with his patient chameleon-like style, but completely understand why most people dont enjoy it.Comment

Because no one knows who he is. Whoever is in charge of public relations and advertising, would have to do one hell of a job to make him popular throughout America.
Boxing doesn't have much buzz across all states anymore. Unless your name is Mayweather or Pac.Comment

Many reasons but the main one is he hasn't beat any type of name. Fighters from America really have a steep hill to climb, especially if they aren't a ko artist. You think Mayweather would be what he is without DLH or his mouth to stand out? Ward doesn't have the personality, or the name to beat to become big but if he keeps winning he will certainly become a name(not a star but the face of American boxing). He nearly cracked the top 10 for breakout athletes in 2011. If the wins keep coming, he will get noticed.Comment

it takes much more time to become a superstar. you need several big fights so you can reach a broad audience, ward is on his way though.Comment

First of all. I wouldn't say that Ward has "dominated" his opponents. I thought Arthur Abraham won 3 rounds against him, I also think Carl Froch won 3 to 5 rounds against him, and Id say Sakio Bika also won 3 to 5 rounds against him.
It would be more accurate to simply say he is beating his opponents.
Ward is not popular for 2 reasons
1) His style, brawling and infighting for 12 rounds with no punching power, never scoring KOs. Fans dont wanna see 12 rounds of crap.
2) He is only now entering "big fights" in his career. I think the Super6 was bigger in Denmark and Germany than in USA. If Ward keeps fighting guys like Bute, Hopkins etc, his profile will definitely rise.Comment
