Fighters of the early 1900s are hugely overrated. People are going by what they have read or heard but never actually sat down and watched. For example, Jack Dempsey

Who in the blue hell thinks Dempsey would have beaten Klitchskos? Just watch him fight, even Derek Chisora would whipe his a$$ and thats a fact

I respect their resume and what they did in their time.. thats it

Thats kind of my point though...they would agree because its kind of the in thing to do...as someone stated earlier, bringing up names like these makes some people sound smarter about boxing than they actually are...

realistically you can't make many judgements based on 15 seconds of footage, unless it's of the fighter getting ko'd in one round or something. We can see williams throwing some combinations and not looking terrible atleast.
and there u have my original point. Thank you great-a

End thread. Still great thread Ice. As a person who is admittedly in the dark on a lot of the sport's history from that time period (I've never heard of Williams) , I learned a lot in here.

LOL Nope, not the end of the thread....because IF a person captioned that round by saying how great Mayweather was in it and then u went ahead and watched the round u'd say "What was this guy watching???" Understand now??? You just helped make my point so THANK YOU!

Still wondering what you were expecting from a 15 sec vid Ice??? A great left hook a devastating combo a vicious KO (even though Williams wasn't known for power) footwork maybe??? And I 2nd Iron Dan's ? because the vid was posted here and I remember the thread being for the most part empty and ppl wishing there was more footage....

So nothing then? Similar to the majority of your content in this thread.

I will have to disagree with that idea that 'everyone would be saying he's amazing'.

You know why? Because there's a thread from a week or so ago about that very footage of Holman Williams. And, low and behold, not a single person in thread was talking about how 'Awesome' it was.

Wow, wide open, chin hanging out. That's Williams? The guy throwing like Margarito?

                      My goodness

Never heard of this guy till this thread, and honestly don't care to hear about him again or see more footage on him.
